Prosecuted two subjects transporting more than 11 kg of drugs from Laos to Vietnam

On July 4, Kon Tum Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute La Thi Tuyet and Vuong Van Duc, both residing in Phu Lac Commune, Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province, for the crime of "illegally transporting drugs".


Vuong Van Duc and La Thi Tuyet were discovered and arrested by Kon Tum provincial authorities while transporting drugs on June 25, 2023.

At around 8:00 p.m. on June 25, the authorities were patrolling and controlling the border patrol area of ​​the Vietnam-Laos border in Iec village (Po Y commune, Ngoc Hoi district) and discovered two subjects carrying two backpacks on their bodies heading from the Laos border into Vietnam, showing suspicious signs. The task force asked the subjects to stop for inspection.

Upon inspection, the task force discovered that the backpacks of Vuong Van Duc and La Thi Tuyet contained suspected drugs. The task force took the subjects and the evidence to the Bo Y International Border Gate Border Guard Station for inspection.

Accordingly, the rectangular package in Vuong Van Duc’s backpack contained 18 yellow rectangular packages and La Thi Tuyet’s contained 16 packages. On the outside of each rectangular package was a red circular stamp printed with the words “DOUBLE” and “UOGLOBE BRAND”, inside contained a white powdery solid substance, suspected to be drugs. The total weight of the 34 packages was 11.23 kg.

The subjects confessed that the above evidence was heroin that a man named Thanh (unknown identity and background) hired to go to Laos to transport to Vietnam through the border area of ​​Kon Tum province for a fee of 340 million VND.
