Bridges that "erase distances"

Nearly 4 years ago, the completion of Dinh Bridge across Kinh Thay River connecting Kinh Mon Town and Thuy Nguyen City (Hai Phong) brought great joy to the people of Hai Duong and Hai Phong City.

Ms. Doan Thi Hoa in Thai Thinh Ward (Kinh Mon) said that before, going from Kinh Mon to Thuy Nguyen had to take a ferry, which was very inconvenient, especially on days when the weather was not favorable. Having a bridge to replace the ferry is something that people in both localities have been looking forward to for many years. "When Dinh Bridge was inaugurated, we were very happy because from now on, there will be no more river barriers and ferries separating us," Ms. Hoa said.

On July 17, 2021, along with Dinh Bridge, Quang Thanh Bridge connecting Thanh Ha District (Hai Duong) with An Lao District (Hai Phong City) was also completed and put into use, marking an important turning point, helping people in the two localities to travel more conveniently. Dinh Bridge and Quang Thanh Bridge play an important role in connecting traffic between Thuy Nguyen City - Kinh Mon Town; An Lao - Thanh Ha District in particular and Hai Phong City with Hai Duong Province in general. The bridges "erase the distance" to help reduce travel costs, increase trade of goods, and promote socio-economic development between the two localities.

The above two projects not only have the meaning of relieving traffic "bottlenecks" but also contribute to realizing the working program between the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee in early 2019.

These bridges were mainly invested by Hai Phong, but Hai Duong actively coordinated in building access roads and clearing the land...

Promoting regional connectivity

On March 13, 2022, in Hai Duong, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Hai Phong City Party Committee, Hai Duong and Quang Ninh organized a conference on development cooperation between the three localities. The leaders of the three provinces and cities affirmed the close, intimate and similar relationship between the localities and agreed to continue to cooperate and accompany each other for common development. Based on the principle of "Sharing - Consensus - Mutual Development", the Standing Committees of the three provinces and cities agreed to continue to closely coordinate and promote increasingly substantive development cooperation.

According to Conclusion 163 dated July 18, 2022 of the Standing Committee of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee on implementing measures to promote regional connectivity between the three localities in the period of 2022 - 2025. Hai Phong City, Hai Duong, and Quang Ninh agreed to cooperate to accelerate development, complete a synchronous, modern, and overall interconnected transport infrastructure system, and promote regional and intra-regional connectivity. Develop a synchronous transport network in all three areas of waterways, railways, and roads.

Hai Duong province has concretized the plan to implement Conclusion 163. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) to develop a plan to implement the connection of the waterway transport network in the region to connect to the ports of Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. Actively coordinate with the parties to implement the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway route, from Lao Cai border gate through Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong to Lach Huyen port station (Hai Phong city).

Regarding roads, in the 2024-2026 period, Hai Duong will invest in two key transport projects connecting to Hai Phong City, with a total cost of more than VND 1,034 billion. These are strategic projects aimed at strengthening regional connectivity, concretizing the coordination program between the Standing Committee of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.

The first project builds a 3.1 km long road connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge, with a total investment of 248 billion VND. The starting point of the route intersects with National Highway 17B (about km11+700) in Long Xuyen Ward (Kinh Mon), the end point connects with the Dinh Bridge approach road in Thai Thinh Ward (Kinh Mon). The main road has a roadbed width of 16 m, and a design speed of 50 km/h.

The second project invests in the construction of a road connecting National Highway 17B (Hai Duong) with Provincial Road 352 (Hai Phong City), from National Highway 17B to Kinh Thay River embankment (Kinh Mon) with a total investment of more than 786 billion VND. The project is connected to the planned construction area of ​​Kinh Thay River overpass according to the approved planning, jointly invested by Hai Duong Province and Hai Phong City. The total length of the route is about 7.22 km, the roadbed is 12 m wide. The projects are in the design phase of construction drawings, expected to start construction in the third quarter of this year.

In addition to the above projects, Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city are implementing a number of road projects connecting the two localities. The project to renovate and upgrade provincial road 390 from Hop Thanh bridge to Quang Thanh bridge (Thanh Ha) has just been completed, replacing the old degraded road, ensuring traffic safety and meeting the increasing travel demand from National Highway 5 through Hai Duong province to National Highway 10 through Hai Phong city.

The East-West axis road project in Kim Thanh district is being implemented with a total length of 15.74 km, including the construction of the East-West axis road and a branch connecting to the National Highway 5 overpass intersection. Of which, the East-West axis road is 14.47 km long, starting at Co Dung commune and ending at Tam Ky commune.

The project of the interchange between Provincial Road 392 (Binh Giang) and the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway has been completed and put into use since 2024. The interchange between the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway and Provincial Road 390 (Thanh Ha) is under construction and is expected to be completed in 2025, contributing to increasingly close traffic connections between Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city.
