The Investigation Police Agency of Quang Nam Province Police has just issued decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain a mother in Ha Lam town (Quang Nam) for murdering her child.
On the evening of April 5, Quang Nam police announced that they had just issued decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain a mother in Ha Lam town for killing her child to profit from life insurance.
Previously, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Public Security's leaders on improving the quality and effectiveness of management and handling of temporarily suspended cases, Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police, directed the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to inspect and review related cases.
Through the inspection and review work, the police verified and resolved the murder case that occurred on January 2, 2023 and clarified that the murderer was To Thi Ty Na (born in 1981, residing in Quarter 3, Ha Lam Town, Thang Binh District, Quang Nam).
Investigation results determined that at around 10:00 p.m. on January 2, at Ms. Na's house, Nguyen Van H. (born in 2017, Na's biological son) died in the bathroom.
Based on collected documents and evidence, the police determined that Na had murdered H. with the intention of taking advantage of insurance.
Therefore, on the evening of April 5, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Nam Province Police issued decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain To Thi Ty Na for murder. The case is under further investigation.
Previously, information was spread on social media about a mother who was accused of murdering her children to collect insurance benefits. At noon on April 3, the police force came to her house to talk to this woman and took her to the agency for investigation and verification. After that, the authorities took this woman to the car and left.
At that time, although the police were still verifying the case, collecting evidence and there was no information on the investigation results. However, on social networks, many unverified information was posted and spread, causing public confusion.
