On August 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province Police decided to prosecute suspect Hoang Anh Thang (born in 1974, residing in Ho Nam ward, Le Chan district, Hai Phong city) for murder.

Previously, on the afternoon of August 10, Thang came from Hai Phong City to visit his wife's parents, Mrs. S. and Mr. L. (in Trung village, Hiep Luc commune, Ninh Giang) and brought with him 2 kitchen knives, 1 electric baton, and 1 switchblade. At around 3:00 a.m. on August 11, taking advantage of the time when everyone in his wife's family was sleeping, Thang used a kitchen knife to attack, causing Mr. BKD (born in 1981, Thang's brother-in-law) to die on the spot and seriously injuring his nephew BCC (Mr. BKD's biological child).
After committing the crime, Thang went to Ninh Giang District Police to surrender.
According to Thang's initial statement, from 2016 until now, his wife, Ms. BTD, has been working in Taiwan (China). Due to conflicts between the couple during the time Ms. D. lived and worked abroad, Thang had the intention to kill his wife's younger brother and nephew.
C. is being treated at Hai Duong General Hospital and is progressing well.
