Criminal detention of real estate company director for embezzling over 3 billion VND

Information from the Criminal Police Department, Quang Binh Provincial Police on July 2, has just broken up a case and temporarily detained Tran Thi Huyen (born in 1989, residing in Bac Ly ward, Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh), Director of Hoang Anh Land QB Company Limited for fraud and property appropriation.

According to the investigation documents, in June 2022, due to needing money to pay personal debts, Huyen had the intention of defrauding and appropriating property. Because she knew her “prey” before, Huyen provided false information about non-existent land plots and sold them to others to appropriate money.

For example, at the end of June 2022, Huyen received from Ms. NTT (residing in Quang Phuc ward, Ba Don town, Quang Binh) an amount of 640 million VND with the reason of selling to Ms. T. a plot of land separated from a plot of land in Hai Phu commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh. Huyen agreed to go to the notary office on July 12, 2022 to sign the transfer of the land plot.

However, when the deadline passed, Huyen had not completed the transfer procedures. Ms. T. tried to meet her many times to resolve the matter, but Huyen avoided her. Ms. T. found out for herself and was "shocked" to find out that Hai Phu commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh did not have the land plot as Huyen had introduced.

Police determined that, using the above method, Tran Thi Huyen appropriated over 3 billion VND from many people in Quang Binh province.

On June 30, 2023, the Criminal Police Department, Quang Binh Provincial Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Tran Thi Huyen and is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
