Accumulated from the beginning of 2025 to now, Hanoi has recorded 1,247 measles cases in 30/30 districts, towns, and cities, including 1 death. The number of measles cases this year increased compared to the same period in 2024 (there were no cases recorded in the same period last year).

The leader of Hanoi CDC commented: The number of measles cases in the past week continued to increase compared to the previous week, mainly people who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated. It is forecasted that there will continue to be cases recorded in the coming time.

Accordingly, Hanoi CDC has coordinated with relevant units to closely monitor the epidemic situation to detect early cases of the disease to organize investigation, containment, and epidemic handling; supervise the implementation of the measles vaccination campaign for children from 6 to under 9 months old in 21 districts.

Next week, districts and towns will continue to review and speed up the measles vaccination progress for children of regular vaccination age and children subject to campaign vaccination, focusing on children aged 6 to under 9 months and children aged 1-10 who have not received 2 doses of measles vaccine.

Units strengthen coordination between the health and education sectors in monitoring, preventing and handling cases and outbreaks of measles, hand, foot and mouth disease... in schools; coordinate the implementation of vaccination in schools as well as review and propaganda for parents to have their children fully vaccinated according to regulations. When there are cases of measles in schools, organize a review of children's vaccination to vaccinate children who have not been vaccinated to prevent the disease in time.

Units shall monitor and detect patients at decentralized medical facilities and in the community, in order to promptly investigate and handle cases and outbreaks, and prevent the disease from spreading. At the same time, they shall organize surveillance activities for suspected measles rash fever, conduct epidemiological investigations, collect samples for testing of 100% of suspected cases, organize zoning, and thoroughly handle areas with patients and outbreaks according to regulations.
