On the morning of September 25, the Standing Committee of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee worked with the delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in the province.
Comrades: Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor chaired the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that Hai Duong has many advantages and potentials to develop trade union organizations. To do this, trade unions at all levels in the province need to innovate their methods of operation, meeting the requirements of the new situation. Focus on gathering and attracting workers and laborers to participate in trade union organizations through specific, practical and effective activities. Continue to perform well the core function of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers. For trade union officials, there should be appropriate policies and remuneration regimes. The organization of programs and seminars needs to go into depth and clearly demonstrate the role and responsibility of trade union organizations.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu hopes that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will pay attention and create favorable conditions for the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in Hai Duong to achieve the set goals.
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu praised and acknowledged the achievements of the trade unions at all levels in the province; at the same time, he pledged to always accompany and support Hai Duong to remove difficulties and obstacles in the work of developing union members and establishing trade union organizations. He hoped that Hai Duong would continue to promote collective strength and the drastic participation of all levels and sectors in the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions. The Provincial Labor Federation needs to proactively advise and coordinate to effectively implement programs and plans launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and localities. Actively evaluate and review to have analysis and solutions suitable to the needs of employers in each period. Continue to pay attention to the regime for grassroots trade union officials. Protect and care for the material and spiritual lives of workers so that the trade union organization can grow stronger.
The Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor is managing 20 grassroots trade unions; 1,990 grassroots trade unions with more than 295,700 union members. In the past 8 months, trade unions at all levels in the province have organized many outstanding and practical activities for union members and workers such as: "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Chia Chia", "Mass Wedding", "Union Shelter", "Union Meal"... Recently, trade unions at all levels in the province have organized visits and encouraged union members' families affected by storms and floods with a total amount of 354 million VND. Currently, the average income of workers is from 6.8 to 7.5 million VND/person/month. The material and spiritual life of union members is increasingly improved and enhanced.
Since the beginning of the year, the province has had 54 grassroots trade unions established, of which 33 have 25 or more workers. The province has admitted 35,585 new union members, of which over 2,600 are newly established grassroots trade unions. 598 enterprises have negotiated and signed collective labor agreements, accounting for over 75% of enterprises with trade unions.
In addition, the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in Hai Duong still faces many difficulties. Some enterprises delay and avoid establishing union organizations. The number of full-time union officials is still limited while the workload and number of union members are increasing. The construction of social housing for workers has not met the actual needs...
