Knowing that his "love rival" incited his wife to divorce, the young man committed murder.

On December 12, the People's Court of Da Nang City opened a first-instance trial and sentenced defendant Le Thanh Tung (28 years old, residing in Phong Nam village, Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district) to 15 years in prison for the crime of "Murder".

According to the indictment, Tung is the husband of Ms. Nguyen Thi NH (28 years old, residing in Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district).

Around April 2022, Ms. H. met Mr. Le Cong Trieu Truong G. (28 years old, residing in Quang Tri) and fell in love. The two often texted each other and Mr. G. told Ms. H. to divorce Tung.

On May 20, 2023, Tung discovered messages and photos of an intimate relationship between Mr. G. and Ms. H. Angry and jealous, Tung argued with Ms. H.

At around 4:00 p.m. on June 8, Tung called Ms. H. but could not reach her. Later, Tung learned that Ms. H. and Mr. G. were drinking with a group of friends on Thang Long Street (Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District).

At 5:30 p.m., Tung drove to where Ms. H. was drinking. There, the two sides got into an argument. Angry, Tung picked up a glass from the bar and threw it at Mr. G. but missed.

Then, Tung pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Mr. G. in the chest, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

Due to severe injuries, Mr. G. died on the way to the emergency room. At 7 p.m., Tung went to the police station to surrender and reported all his crimes.

In court, Tung testified that he was so angry that the victim had an affair and incited his wife to divorce that he could not control himself. After seeing the text messages and intimate photos of his wife with the victim, the defendant's jealousy arose, leading to his uncontrolled actions, taking the victim's life.

Tung expressed regret and remorse for his actions and asked the jury to give him a light sentence so he could soon return to rebuild his life.
