Death penalty for jealous man who committed serious crime in Kinh Mon, Tran Van Duong

On the morning of December 20, Hai Duong Provincial People's Court held a first-instance trial of Tran Van Duong for murder, intentional injury and theft of property.

According to the indictment, Duong was angry that his wife, Ms. DTH, had an illicit relationship with Mr. NPD (born in 1985, in Thai Thinh ward, Kinh Mon), so he used a tracking device attached to the family's car 34A-375.16 to monitor his wife.

At about 10:30 a.m. on June 29, 2024, after Ms. H. and Mr. D. had breakfast in Nui Deo town, Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong city), Duong checked the location and saw the car moving through Thai Thinh ward. Thinking that Ms. H. and Mr. D. were going to a motel, he had the idea of ​​killing Mr. D.

Duong rode his motorbike according to GPS to Dong Son commune, Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong city) and bought a 39.5cm long knife.

When meeting Ms. H. at the Bao Son Hotel, Duong assaulted her, causing her to fall to the ground, then left the hotel. About 5 minutes later, Mr. D. came down from room 506 to hire a taxi to take Ms. H. to the emergency room with 22% body damage.

Because he could not find and kill Mr. D., Duong had the intention of killing Mr. D.'s biological parents and Mr. NVH (born in 1985, in Thai Thinh ward, Kinh Mon town), because Mr. H. had previously had an illicit relationship with Ms. H. Duong rode a motorbike carrying a knife to Mr. D.'s house and called the gate, but Ms. PTK (born in 1961, Mr. D.'s biological mother) came out to the porch and said that Mr. D. was not home.

Duong hid the knife behind his back and walked to where Mrs. K. was standing, slashing her once in the neck, killing her on the spot. Then, Duong took the knife and ran into the living room. Mr. NTP (born in 1961, D.'s father) was sitting next to the dinner tray in the middle of the living room, stood up and ran into the area under the stairs, then Duong chased and slashed Mr. P. many times, injuring him 81%.

Duong continued riding his motorbike to Mr. NVH's house, saw that the roller shutter was closed, so he parked his motorbike outside and called out. He heard Mr. H's voice and the roller shutter was opening and lifting.

Duong took a knife and slashed Mr. H. repeatedly. Mr. H. was injured and ran out into the street. Duong chased after him and slashed him but was too late. Mr. H. suffered 31% injuries.

After that, Duong walked to Mr. NVP's house (born in 1962, H.'s biological father) to kill H.'s family members. When he arrived at Mr. P.'s house, he saw the gate closed and the door open. Duong took a knife and jumped over the wall but did not meet anyone. Duong took the motorbike 34M4-0711 (valued at over 4.3 million VND) and drove away.

When arriving at Tong Buong residential area, Duong was arrested by Thai Thinh ward police.

The jury sentenced Tran Van Duong to death for murder, three years in prison for intentional injury, and six months in prison for theft. The total sentence is death.
