On the morning of August 26, at Khuc Thua Du temple in Cuc Bo village (Kien Quoc commune), the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Giang district (Hai Duong) held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 1,117th death anniversary of National Hero Khuc Thua Du.
Comrade Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee attended the ceremony and offered incense.
Also attending were a number of members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of a number of departments, branches, sectors and localities in the province; key officials of Ninh Giang district; representatives of the Khuc Family Council of Vietnam and a large number of officials, party members and people.
The incense offering speech affirmed that national hero Khuc Thua Du was the one who initiated the country's independence, ending more than 1,000 years of our nation being dominated by the Northern feudalism. Taking advantage of the weakening of the Tang Dynasty, he led troops to attack Tong Binh Palace (Dai La) and proclaimed himself the Governor, rising up to rule the country.
After Khuc Thua Du died, his son Khuc Hao took power and implemented many important reforms, contributing to the stability and development of the country. After Khuc Hao died, his son Khuc Thua My took over. Due to the strength of the Southern Han invaders, Khuc Thua My was defeated.
The time in power was less than 30 years, but the contributions of 3 generations - the Three Lords of the Khuc family - have marked a bright spot in the history of the nation. It was a period of independence and autonomy, with major reforms of lasting value in the process of building and defending the country.
The 2024 traditional festival will be held for the first time at the district level, commemorating the 1,117th anniversary of the death of National Hero Khuc Thua Du. With the largest scale ever, the festival will be held for 3 days, from August 24-26 (ie July 21-23, Giap Thin year) with many activities such as banh chung wrapping competition; chess tournament, men's and women's volleyball tournament; cultural exchange program, art performances...
