Introduced to download the Alliance Bernstein Investment Fund management application to practice stock investment, 3 people in Hanoi transferred 12 billion VND and had all the money appropriated.
On July 6, Hanoi City Police warned about fraudulent tricks to appropriate assets when participating in online financial investment.
According to the report of Ms. P. (residing in Dong Anh, Hanoi), she received a call introducing herself as an employee of Alliance Bernstein Investment Fund Management Company Limited inviting her to participate in free training on stock knowledge and join an online study group on Zalo.
After 2 weeks of online learning, the subject instructed Ms. P. to download the Alliance Bernstein Investment Fund management application to practice investing in stocks. Seeing high profits, Ms. P. invested more than 6 billion VND in the Alliance Bernstein Investment Fund.
When withdrawing money, Ms. P. was informed that her account was locked and she had to deposit more money or else her account would be permanently locked after 24 hours. Ms. P. transferred money to the subject 21 times with a total amount of 10.9 billion VND and all of the money was taken.
Similarly, Mr. H. (residing in Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi) and Ms. D. (residing in Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) also participated in the Alliance Bernstein Investment Fund and had 1.1 billion VND appropriated.
To prevent fraud, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Hanoi City Police, recommends that people be vigilant when participating in free training groups on securities, financial investment, and friend requests from strangers on social networks.
People should not participate in financial investment applications and international trading floors that are advertised with high interest rates and potential risks of fraud to protect themselves and avoid falling into financial traps. When encountering cases with signs of fraud, people should contact the police to promptly resolve the case according to regulations.
