4 people in Thanh Hoa sentenced for selling airline tickets on Facebook to Hai Duong residents

The indictment of the People's Procuracy of Hai Duong City stated: Due to the need for spending money, 4 subjects from Tho Xuan district (Thanh Hoa), including: Le Don Khanh (born in 1992, residing in Bac Luong commune), Le Van Ngoc (born in 1993, residing in Tho Hai commune), Le Van Binh (born in 1997, residing in Xuan Phong commune), Le Sy Tu (born in 1995, residing in Tho Loc commune) discussed and agreed to create Facebook accounts "Manh Hung ticket office", "Truong An airline ticket office", "Thanh Cong airline ticket office", "Phuc Hung ticket office" and then provided false promotional information to make customers trust them. Customers were tricked into transferring money to buy airline tickets to the account numbers provided by the subjects and then had their money stolen.

From March 1-29, 2023, 4 subjects appropriated money from 22 people, including some people in Hai Duong, with a total amount of more than 142.4 million VND.

Based on the nature, level and behavior of the defendants, the Trial Panel sentenced Le Don Khanh to 45 months in prison, Le Van Ngoc to 42 months in prison, Le Van Binh to 40 months in prison, and Le Sy Tu to 27 months in prison but with a suspended sentence, all for the crime of fraud to appropriate property under Point c, Clause 2, Article 174 of the Penal Code.
