Warning about scams to work in Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia

The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just requested departments, branches, sectors, organizations and Steering Committee 138 of localities to strengthen propaganda so that people can recognize fraudulent tricks, enticement of "easy work, high salary" to send workers to Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia to work. People in the province actively participate in preventing, fighting, stopping and denouncing subjects who entice, broker, and organize illegal exit activities. Steering Committee 138 of localities promptly receives information denouncing crimes related to sending workers to work abroad illegally...

This request from Hai Duong was issued when recently, there have been many workers looking for jobs on social networks and being lured by some people to work in Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia with promises of easy work, high salaries, and many benefits. However, when they go to these countries, they are forced to work up to 15 hours/day, and even tortured and beaten... Some people quit their jobs and want to return to Vietnam, but the company or broker requires them to pay 150-200 million VND... Some workers have been taken to areas with complicated security and order in the Kokang Autonomous Region, Laukkaiing District of Myanmar to be rescued...

According to the provincial police, up to now, Hai Duong has had 2 workers in a complex security and order area in Myanmar rescued and brought back to Hai Duong safely.
