Arrest of a subject who swindled land sales and appropriated more than 15 billion VND

On December 18, Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police announced that they had successfully broken up a case and arrested a subject who had fraudulently appropriated property through borrowing, lending, and buying and selling real estate transactions.

The arrested subject is Nguyen Chi Tam (born in 1988, residing in Thanh Vinh village, Phu Mau commune, Hue city).

According to initial investigation results, from 2021 until his arrest, taking advantage of the trust of many organizations and individuals, Tam used the victims' land use right certificates, established authorization contracts, and transferred land use rights to borrow and lend money.

Then, Tam borrowed the documents and said he would use them to change the land use purpose and divide the plots. But in reality, Tam sold the land documents to get money for personal use, or continued to mortgage the property to appropriate the victims' property.

In this way, Tam appropriated over 15 billion VND from many people. After appropriating the victims’ assets, Tam cut off contact information, social media accounts and fled the area.

After receiving the victim's complaint, the Board of Directors of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police directed the Criminal Police Department to establish a special case, deploy professional measures, verify, fight, and arrest Nguyen Chi Tam.

Currently, the police agency has decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Nguyen Chi Tam to continue investigating according to the provisions of law.
