Hai Duong honors 66 outstanding intellectuals

On the afternoon of December 23, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee held the 4th meeting and honoring ceremony for outstanding intellectuals of Hai Duong province in 2024.

Attending the meeting were 66 outstanding intellectuals of Hai Duong representing the intellectual community in the whole province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang affirmed that over the years, Hai Duong's intellectuals have actively disseminated knowledge, improved people's intellectual level; researched and applied scientific and technological advances in production and life, contributing to increasing labor productivity, raising people's income, and making important contributions to the province's development.

The comrades also acknowledged the efforts of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations in gathering, uniting, and promoting the talents and intelligence of the scientific and technological intellectual force in the cause of industrialization and modernization.

Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, proposed that the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Hai Duong province, agencies, departments and branches of the province focus on prioritizing the implementation of science and technology tasks in the fields of digital transformation, biotechnology, supporting industries and high-tech products.

Prioritize research on specific solutions to apply digital technology to state management, production and public services. Support businesses to invest in innovation projects, especially in the fields of supporting industries and high-tech products. Promote cooperation between the State, scientists and businesses. Hai Duong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang requested the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations to continue advising on specific mechanisms and policies to build a strong, high-quality intellectual team in the province with reasonable quantity and structure, and propose macro and specific solutions to serve the local development cause.

All levels and sectors create favorable conditions for intellectuals to contribute and dedicate themselves to the common development of the province. Actively care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of intellectuals and members. Organize forums and scientific seminars to gather intellectuals to participate in consulting and proposing solutions to urgent problems of the province. Focus on building policies to attract and reward intellectuals, especially young intellectuals and retired intellectuals.

Units promote propaganda to promote the innovation movement at all levels, sectors and among the people. Mobilize intellectuals and scientists to promote research and application of science and technology with high practicality suitable to the actual conditions of the province, contributing to making science and technology become the leading important driving force for developing productive forces and socio-economic development. Timely pay attention to, encourage, commend and reward collectives and individuals with useful innovations in research, study and life to encourage the development of the innovation emulation movement, contributing to the development of the sector, unit and locality.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the provincial leaders congratulated and presented honorary symbols to 66 outstanding intellectuals of the province. The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions in the implementation and consulting on the implementation of contents for the development of the province's intellectual team.

Representing the honored intellectuals, Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Huu Manh (Sao Do University) thanked the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee for their deep concern for the intellectuals of the province. At the same time, he promised to continue to contribute creatively and make many new and useful contributions to the development of science, technology, and innovation in the province. He suggested that in the coming time, all levels and sectors continue to pay attention and have many policies and mechanisms to promote research activities as well as the dedication and contributions of the intellectuals.

In the period 2022-2024, Hai Duong intellectuals will implement 94 science and technology topics. The number of topics increases every year, especially in the fields of social sciences and medicine. In 2023, 34 solutions won prizes at the 13th Provincial Technical Innovation Contest.

In 2023-2024, Hai Duong province will have nearly 100 intellectuals achieving doctoral degrees, including intellectuals who received doctoral training abroad.
