On the morning of December 17, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin held its 5th Congress for the 2024-2029 term, with the participation of 134 official delegates representing more than 8,000 members in the province.

Speaking at the congress, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Duc Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that the Hai Duong Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin at all levels have achieved in the past term.
At the same time, it is recommended that all levels of the association continue to advise and seriously implement Directive No. 43-CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Secretariat to raise awareness and sense of responsibility of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations, cadres, party members, association members and people in caring for and helping Agent Orange victims.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, presented 50 million VND from the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin to support the livelihood of victims' families in Hai Duong province.

Associations at all levels continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, concretize action programs; protect the legitimate rights and interests of Agent Orange victims; mobilize resources to provide better and better care for victims and their families throughout the province...

In the 2019-2024 term, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has strived to overcome many difficulties, closely following the Congress Resolution, implementing all aspects of work, and basically completing the set tasks and targets.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, requested that all levels of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Hai Duong province actively advise on protecting the rights of victims.

From the beginning of the term to May 2024, the Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims at all levels in the province mobilized more than 23.4 billion VND. The work of caring for and helping victims focused on supporting the construction and repair of houses; giving scholarships to victims' children; supporting capital and breeding for production, medical examination and treatment... The total cost of care, assistance, gifts, and visits during the past term of the Association at all levels was more than 52.5 billion VND. Every year, 100% of direct and indirect victims of Agent Orange are given gifts on holidays, Tet, anniversaries...

Comrade Nguyen Duc Tuan, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong province, requested that the provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin at all levels actively mobilize resources and take better care of the victims.

During the term, the association at all levels advised on building 30 houses for victims with housing difficulties with a total cost of 1.5 billion VND from the "For the Poor" Fund of Hai Duong province; mobilizing resources and socializing the construction of gratitude houses and "great solidarity" houses for 13 victims with a total cost of 720 million VND, giving savings books to 5 victims with a cost of 95 million VND; giving 153 wheelchairs to victims with no mobility; supporting livelihoods for 30 victims to improve their lives and integrate into the community...

In the 2024-2029 term, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin will continue to innovate, unite, be loyal, responsible, and focus on the grassroots and on victims of Agent Orange; maintain and enhance the role, prestige, and position of the association; and build a strong association.

Comrade Vu Xuan Thu was re-elected as Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Hai Duong province for the 2024-2029 term.

The provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims strives for 100% of communes to be qualified to operate associations or branches; mobilize funds at all levels during the term to reach 45-50 billion VND (cash and in-kind equivalent); build and repair 15-20 new houses; support medical examination and treatment for 500-700 victims; support production and business capital for 12 victims...

The Executive Committee of the 5th term of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Hai Duong province for the 2024-2029 term was introduced to the congress.

The Congress elected 23 comrades to the new Executive Committee. At the first meeting, the Executive Committee of the 5th term elected comrade Vu Xuan Thu, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, term IV, to hold the position of Chairman of the Association of the 5th term.

On this occasion, the Central Committee awarded certificates of merit to 2 groups and 3 individuals, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 1 group and 2 individuals with outstanding achievements in the movement for Agent Orange victims...
