Catholics in Hai Duong join the patriotic emulation movement

Catholics in Hai Duong continue to carry out the patriotic emulation movement well, raising vigilance against all distorted arguments about human rights and religion by hostile forces.

On the morning of April 15, the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong province organized a ceremony to commend good people and good deeds among Catholics in the province for the period 2020 - 2025.

Members of the Provincial Standing Committee: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Nguyen Duc Tuan, Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front attended.

Also attending were more than 100 outstanding parishioners, representing more than 42,000 parishioners in the entire province.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, emphasized that Catholics in Hai Duong province are an important part of the great national unity bloc. During the resistance war for national liberation and reunification, Catholics made great contributions in terms of manpower and resources, helping to regain independence for the nation. Today, in the cause of national construction and defense, especially in the renovation process, with the motto of "Good life, good religion", "Accompanying the nation", Catholics continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Party committees and authorities in localities and bases, promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc, successfully implementing the goals and tasks of economic, cultural, social development, national security and defense, etc.

In the movement to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, Catholics in many parishes and churches in the province have voluntarily contributed money, labor, donated land to build internal roads, rural traffic, and built welfare projects. Many Catholic families have achieved the title of "Exemplary grandparents and parents, loyal children, and filial grandchildren". Every year, 89 - 96% of Catholic families are recognized as cultural families.

Catholic dignitaries, officials, and compatriots in Hai Duong have always been exemplary in implementing the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws. Many parishes and religious communities have established self-governing models such as “Safe villages, safe residential areas in terms of security and order”, “Security gong”, “Self-governing security teams”, “Self-governing environmental protection teams”, etc.

Comrade Nguyen Quang Phuc said that in the coming time, the tasks of the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Duong will be very heavy. One of the key tasks is to continue to promote the strength of the great national unity bloc, promote democracy, innovation, creativity, mobilize and effectively use resources to bring Hai Duong to develop quickly and sustainably.

Comrade Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, suggested that Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations at all levels continue to coordinate well in disseminating and popularizing the State's policies and laws and local regulations to Catholics. Especially policies and laws on beliefs and religions so that Catholics have correct awareness, trust in the Party's leadership, strictly and consistently implement regulations on religious activities in the province. Encourage dignitaries, officials, and Catholics to raise their vigilance against all distorted arguments about human rights, religion, and sabotage activities of hostile forces aimed at undermining the great national unity bloc.

In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and state management agencies on religion regularly coordinate to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of Catholic compatriots; promptly advise and propose to Party committees and authorities at all levels to resolve the legitimate needs and aspirations in the religious and belief activities of Catholic compatriots.

Continue to implement and improve the quality of emulation movements for economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, charitable and humanitarian activities, and social security programs; effectively implement the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, live a good life and follow good religion" associated with building "Advanced parishes and parishes", "Exemplary Catholic families".

On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong province awarded certificates of merit to 20 collectives and 105 individuals with achievements in implementing patriotic emulation movements among Catholics in Hai Duong province in the period of 2020 - 2025.

Catholicism in Hai Duong province is under the Hai Phong Diocese, including 2 deaneries with 42 parishes, 79 parishes: 131 churches, chapels, 34 parish priests, nearly 42,000 parishioners (accounting for 2.1% of the province's population). In addition, there are over 600 officials participating in the management of grassroots religious organizations such as: Parish Council, Parish Executive Committee, Parish Executive Committee and 490 organizations regularly serving religious ceremonies.
