On the morning of March 27, in Chi Linh City, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Hai Duong province hosted the 13th conference to exchange experiences in association work of 26 northern provinces and cities.
Attending the conference were comrades: Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin; Nguyen Duc Tuan, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors and representatives of leaders of 26 provincial and municipal associations in the Northern region.
At the conference, Comrade Nguyen Duc Tuan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, provided an overview of Hai Duong's socio-economic development in 2023 to delegates. He affirmed that Hai Duong always creates favorable conditions and accompanies the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in activities to promptly and effectively implement the Party and State's policies and guidelines on dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the Vietnam War, especially supporting and helping victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the province.
Delegates focused on evaluating the performance of the Northern provincial and municipal associations from the 12th conference on experience exchange in association work, hosted by the Hanoi City Association in May 2023 to present. At the same time, they discussed, exchanged and shared experiences in improving association work activities, affirming the role and position of the association. Emphasizing solutions to build and develop the association organization system, innovate content and methods of operation suitable to the new situation; solutions to improve the effectiveness of mobilizing resources to help victims; difficulties and obstacles in the association's practical activities and proposed solutions to overcome them...
Hai Duong currently has over 8,000 victims of Agent Orange. Since its establishment, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has advised the Party Committee and the Government to effectively implement the Party and State's policies and guidelines on dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals; caring for and helping victims; and implementing policies for resistance fighters exposed to toxic chemicals and their children and grandchildren suffering from Agent Orange sequelae. The province has actively mobilized resources to help victims and their families overcome difficulties of illness and integrate into the community. In 2023 alone, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has mobilized over 14 billion VND, given gifts and supported 24,650 victims of Agent Orange.
