Hung Yen Newspaper celebrates 80 years of publishing its first issue

The speech read by Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Luyen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hung Yen Newspaper at the ceremony reviewed the 80-year history of the glorious tradition of Hung Yen Newspaper. In June 1943, Bai Say Newspaper, the propaganda agency of the Viet Minh Provincial Committee, published its first issue, the predecessor of today's Hung Yen Newspaper. The name Bai Say Newspaper, with the meaning of inheriting the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders of the peasant uprising at the end of the 19th century led by Nguyen Thien Thuat, demonstrated the determination to promote the patriotic tradition and the indomitable fighting spirit of cadres, party members and people of the whole province. Despite the extremely difficult and secretive operation, Bai Say Newspaper was still directly compiled and published by the leaders of Hung Yen Province.

After publishing 10 issues, the revolutionary movement in Hung Yen was terrorized. Bai Say Newspaper had to stop publishing. However, the first issues created a buzz, aroused the patriotism of the people, and strengthened the trust of the masses in the cause of national salvation and liberation led by the Party. On December 19, 1946, to encourage and call on the entire population to respond to the national resistance war, Bai Say Newspaper was republished.

Authorized by the Prime Minister, Comrade Tran Quoc Toan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hung Yen province awarded a certificate of merit to Hung Yen Newspaper.

After that, Bai Say newspaper changed its name several times. On March 1, 1962, at the suggestion of Uncle Ho, the Standing Committee of Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee decided to change the name of Ten Lua newspaper to Hung Yen newspaper. During the period when Hai Duong and Hung Yen provinces merged into Hai Hung province, the journalists of the province united to shoulder the responsibility and successfully completed the assigned tasks. In January 1997, Hung Yen province was re-established. On January 2, 1997, the first issue of Hung Yen newspaper (new series) was published.

Since the re-establishment of the province, Hung Yen Newspaper has continuously innovated and improved the quality of its activities. Currently, Hung Yen Newspaper (printed newspaper) is published 5 times a week (from Monday to Friday) with a circulation of more than 18,300 copies/time. Hung Yen e-newspaper has 2 versions in Vietnamese and English, regularly posting, updating timely and comprehensive information, current events, and issues of public concern. Hung Yen Newspaper also strongly develops pages on social networking platforms such as: Facebook, Zalo. Hung Yen Newspaper currently has a total of 45 cadres, civil servants, and employees.

In any period, Hung Yen Newspaper always adheres to its principles and purposes, regularly propagates the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the tasks of the Party Committee and the Hung Yen Provincial Government, effectively serving the cause of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building the Party and the political system in the province. The newspaper actively encourages patriotic emulation movements, reflects good people, good deeds, and advanced models; at the same time, it pays attention to reflecting and fighting against negativity, backwardness, and refuting wrong views and distorted information of hostile forces. Not only does it perform well its role and function as the mouthpiece and tool of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, Hung Yen Newspaper is also a forum for the majority of people in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Huu Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, praised and acknowledged the important contributions of Hung Yen Newspaper to the cause of building a clean and strong Party Committee and political system of Hung Yen province, and developing the province's economy and society in recent times.

Emphasizing the tasks and requirements in the coming time, the Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee requested that Hung Yen Newspaper must always attach importance to Party spirit and orientation, constantly innovate, closely follow reality, quickly reflect current events and issues, the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's and the province's policies and laws, contributing to building and developing Hung Yen to become increasingly prosperous and civilized. The newspaper should deeply reflect the thoughts and aspirations of the people; open columns that readers are interested in; actively reflect people's livelihood issues; protect the Party's ideological foundation, effectively fight against wrong and hostile views; perform well the function of orienting public opinion. Pay attention to building a team of cadres, reporters, and journalists with strong political will, good expertise, clear ethics, actively studying and following the journalism style of President Ho Chi Minh. Strengthen comprehensive digital transformation to meet new requirements and tasks.

The President of the Vietnam Journalists Association awarded a certificate of merit to the Hung Yen Newspaper Journalists Association for its outstanding achievements in professional work and association activities. The Executive Committee of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee presented a banner with the words "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity - Development" to Hung Yen Newspaper. The Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 groups and 2 individuals.
