For the brutal murder of his ex-lover's mother and child in Chi Linh City (Hai Duong), Duong Dinh Luyen was sentenced to death to pay the price for his "cold-blooded" actions.
On the afternoon of December 30, the People's Court of Hai Duong province held a first-instance trial of Duong Dinh Luyen (born in 1985, residing in Chi Minh ward, Chi Linh city) for murder and intentional damage to property.
According to the indictment, since 2016, Luyen has lived as husband and wife with Ms. TTNA (born in 1993, residing in Van An ward, Chi Linh city). The two have a child together, born in 2016.
After that, Luyen and Ms. A. ended their relationship, and their child lived with Luyen's biological mother.
In 2022, Luyen married Ms. Dong Thi Giang (born in 1994, residing in Van Duc ward, Chi Linh city). Ms. A. lives with her biological mother, Ms. LTH (born in 1964, residing in Van An ward).
After ending the relationship, Luyen and Ms. A. had conflicts over raising their children.
At about 2:30 p.m. on June 23, 2024, after drinking alcohol, Luyen drove his car to Ms. A's house to talk. Arriving at Ms. A's house, Luyen parked his car outside the gate, took a knife about 20 cm long and went inside the house.
Seeing Mrs. H. (Ms. A.'s mother) at home, Luyen asked Mrs. H. to call Ms. A. to talk. When they returned, Luyen and Ms. A argued. Luyen used a knife to stab Ms. A many times.
After stabbing Ms. A., Luyen went to Ms. H. and then continued to stab Ms. H. three times with a knife. After stabbing Ms. H., Luyen took the knife and ran out the gate and drove away.
Luyen drove his car to the gate of Tuong residential area, Van An ward, and met Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (born in 1991, residing in Van Duc ward, Chi Linh city) who was driving a Hyundai 34A-811.45 car. Luyen reversed the car and crashed into the front of Ms. Nga's car, causing property damage of more than 13.8 million VND.
On the run, Luyen threw away the knife used to stab Ms. A. and Ms. H. On July 8, 2024, Luyen was hiding in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City when he was discovered and arrested by the police.
Ms. H. and Ms. A. were taken to Hai Duong General Hospital for emergency treatment but did not survive. Ms. H. and Ms. N. died.
