According to experts, one of the reasons why the number of candidates registering for the competency assessment exam is higher than last year is that when taking the exam, candidates will have more opportunities to be admitted to university in 2025 if those schools continue to use the results of this exam.
Currently, the country has nearly 10 separate university entrance exams and more than 100 universities use the results of these exams for admission, in addition to considering high school graduation exam scores and some other methods.

According to statistics, the country has more than 10 separate university entrance exams with the participation of many technical, pedagogical, police and economic schools with a record number of candidates. The exam combines multiple choice and essay questions with appropriate score ratios depending on the exam, including questions assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to argue, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative.
In 2024, Hanoi National University of Education will only have one capacity assessment exam, scheduled to take place on May 11. In 2024, Hanoi National University plans to organize 6 rounds of competency assessment exams, meeting the needs of about 87,000 registered candidates. The exams will take place from March 23 to June 2. This is the highest rate of candidates ever. Many testing locations have 100% of candidates coming to take the exam. According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center (Hanoi National University), the competency assessment exam is designed in a standardized direction from the task of creating questions, organizing the exam to certifying the results. Therefore, candidates participating in any exam, in any province or location will have the same recognized results.
In particular, by taking the exam, candidates will have more opportunities to be admitted to universities in 2025 if those schools continue to use the results of the competency assessment test. This is one of the reasons why the number of candidates registering for the competency assessment test is higher than the same period last year.
