Van Hoang Minh Anh is currently a 10th grade student in the integrated program at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. The female student learned the results yesterday, March 14, and said she felt surprised.

"I tried my best but I didn't think I was in the tallest group in the world," Minh Anh shared.

Last year, the female student won third prize in the city-level math competition for 9th graders. Minh Anh said she likes this subject because she feels the beauty in its logic and its rich applications.

"Math is not just about calculations and numbers, but through it I learn how to think and imagine richly," said the female student.

Minh Anh said she was exposed to English since she was 5 years old. When she entered primary school, her family registered her for an integrated program, where she learned math and science in this language.

The teachers' real-life examples or lessons through games and activities attract female students right from the start. According to Minh Anh, this lively teaching method makes her more and more interested in math and science.

"When I learned about the golden ratio, I was instructed and explained why it is often applied in paintings, architectural works or when evaluating beauty," the female student said.

Sharing her learning methods, Minh Anh believes that the most important factors are perseverance, knowing how to organize time effectively and balancing study and play.

"Many people think that students at specialized schools only focus on studying, but in reality, I spend a lot of time playing badminton, swimming, learning to decorate ao dai, and making scented candles to relax my mind," Minh Anh said.

In class, the female student always focuses on memorizing knowledge, then does exercises and reads more in the textbook. According to Minh Anh, this method helps her grasp and expand her knowledge.

The integrated English program has been implemented by Ho Chi Minh City since 2014. Students study the Vietnamese program in parallel with 8-15 lessons per week with foreign teachers, in three subjects: math, English and science. The output standard is Pearson Edexcel certificates called iPrimary (primary), iLowerSecondary (secondary) and International Baccalaureate GCSE (high school).

At the certificate awarding ceremony for 700 students taking the 2024 exam this morning, March 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that 99% of students met the requirements, at all three levels. The rate of excellent scores (8-9) of Vietnamese students was 84%, higher than the global average (54%).
