The 6th grade secondary school enrollment guidelines for the 2025-2026 school year in Hai Duong province have many new points compared to the previous school year.
Hai Duong Department of Education and Training has just provided guidance on some contents on 6th grade secondary school enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year with many notable new points.
Specifically, for schools that conduct enrollment throughout the district, town, or city, and have a number of students applying for enrollment exceeding the assigned quota, enrollment will be conducted in two rounds.
Round 1 is based on students' academic performance (students must have good or better academic results in all years of study; especially in grade 5, they must have excellent results). If the results of round 1 still exceed the assigned target, round 2 will be held.
Round 2 is through a competency assessment. The content of the competency assessment includes: math and Vietnamese according to the primary education program (mainly in the current grade 4 and grade 5 program of the Ministry of Education and Training). Assessment form: question and answer, writing, presentation, practice... according to the regulations in the student assessment regulations.
The assessment score is 20 points, of which 10 points are for math and 10 points are for Vietnamese. The test duration is 60 minutes (for the written test); other forms of testing do not exceed 15 minutes.
A notable new point is that the district People's Committee has a plan to implement the construction of a typical school model for foreign language teaching, so it can add English content and increase the time for reasonable competency assessment in the competency assessment plan.
The principle of admission is from high to low based on the results of the ability assessment. In case students have the same score, the consideration will be carried out in turn according to the sub-criteria.
A notable new point in the consideration of the secondary criteria is that students who have achieved achievements in participating in competitions and exchanges on culture, arts, and sports organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training are prioritized in order from highest to lowest. Students who have an international English proficiency certificate within the prescribed period (issued by units on the list approved by the Ministry of Education and Training to jointly organize foreign language proficiency exams in Vietnam) are prioritized according to the level of foreign language proficiency achieved.
In case the above sub-criteria are not met, the Department of Education and Training shall advise the District People's Committee to develop additional sub-criteria in the enrollment plan suitable to the actual situation of the locality.
Hai Duong Department of Education and Training requires the Departments of Education and Training to advise the People's Committees at the district level to establish a Steering Committee for Secondary School Admissions, approve the secondary school admissions plan, and divide the admissions areas appropriately to ensure the implementation of the task of universalizing secondary school education.
The organization of secondary school enrollment in the whole province must be completed before July 6, 2025. The Departments of Education and Training approve the enrollment results of each secondary school and summarize the report to the Department of Education and Training before July 31, 2025.
Secondary schools recruiting students in the entire district, town, and city often have a number of students applying for admission exceeding the quota, including: Le Quy Don, Vo Thi Sau, Binh Minh (Hai Duong City), Chu Van An (Chi Linh City), Pham Su Manh (Kinh Mon), Le Thanh Nghi (Gia Loc), Nguyen Luong Bang (Thanh Mien), Thanh Nhan (Ninh Giang), Phan Boi Chau (Tu Ky), Chu Van An (Thanh Ha), Phu Thai (Kim Thanh), Nguyen Hue (Cam Giang), Vu Huu (Binh Giang), Nguyen Trai (Nam Sach).
