At a recent online meeting with districts, towns and cities on dengue fever prevention and control, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control in Hanoi Vu Thu Ha said that although the number of dengue fever cases has decreased, it is still high, so we must not be subjective but continue to implement more drastic measures during the peak period of dengue fever prevention and control.
The Steering Committee for Human Disease Prevention and Control continues to inspect disease prevention and control work in localities. In particular, in November, Hanoi focused on inspecting areas with high numbers of dengue fever cases.
The School Health Steering Committee also established two school health inspection teams, focusing on inspecting epidemic prevention and control work at schools.
Regarding the treatment of dengue fever patients, according to the assessment of professional agencies, medical facilities still meet the treatment needs of patients, without overloading.
However, Ms. Vu Thu Ha noted that the health sector needs to review the work of admitting and receiving patients, ensuring that people with dengue fever are admitted and treated promptly.
From the beginning of the year to November 6, the city recorded 28,483 cases of dengue fever (2.7 times higher than the same period last year) in 30/30 districts, towns and cities; 575/579 communes, wards and towns (accounting for 99.3% of communes, wards and towns) and there were 4 deaths. On average, the city recorded 2,400-2,700 cases of dengue fever per week.
The districts with the highest number of dengue fever patients are Ha Dong with 1,973 cases, Hoang Mai with 1,840 cases, Phu Xuyen with 1,835 cases, Thanh Oai with 1,639 cases, Dong Da with 1,565 cases, Thanh Tri with 1,553 cases. The city has also recorded 1,661 outbreaks, with 231 outbreaks currently active in 28 districts, towns and cities.
