Pham Van Vinh (born in 1987) and Doan Van Thang (born in 1988), both from Nhi Chau ward, Hai Duong city, stole a motorbike together and have just been prosecuted and temporarily detained.
The Investigation Police Agency, Gia Loc District Police, has just initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and issued a 2-month detention order for Pham Van Vinh (born in 1987) and Doan Van Thang (born in 1988), both from Nhi Chau Ward, Hai Duong City, for the crime of property theft.
At around 8:00 a.m. on September 27, Vinh and Thang went to Gia Loc district to steal a motorbike. When they arrived at the cemetery in Cat Hau village, Hong Hung commune, they discovered that Nguyen Van Huy's (born in 1989) Honda Wave motorbike with license plate 34B3-705.06 in Bai Ha village, Toan Thang commune, Gia Loc district had not removed the key. Thang stopped so Vinh could approach and steal the motorbike and drive to the North-South main road. Seeing this, Huy shouted and together with the locals, chased after him on motorbikes.
Upon receiving the news, Gia Loc District Police deployed forces and vehicles to coordinate with local people to capture Vinh and the stolen vehicle. Thang, after fleeing to Hai Duong City, was also arrested by the police.
At the police station, Vinh and Thang confessed that because they did not have stable jobs and had no money to spend, they decided to steal a motorbike to sell for money to spend.
During the investigation, Gia Loc District Police found out that Vinh and Thang had also committed two other motorbike thefts in Ninh Giang and Cam Giang districts. Gia Loc District Police seized the evidence of the two thefts to continue the investigation.
Vinh had a previous conviction for theft in 2005 and a previous conviction for robbery in 2010. Thang had two previous convictions for robbery in 2004 and 2009.
