Witness to the case of a little girl from Hai Duong suspected of being kidnapped by a maid: "The little girl cried a lot"

From the center of Me market area, there is a small road running through many fields, interspersed with lakes, leading straight to Dong Que village (Me So commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen province). To enter the village, people have to cross a small bridge, more than ten meters long, spanning a ditch right at the entrance of the village.

Man recounts meeting 2-year-old girl and her kidnapper

The bridge leading to the small farming village is usually only seen with the silhouettes of students leaving school, but late in the afternoon of September 20, crowds of people were standing around. This was the scene where the kidnapper murdered the 21-month-old girl.

"Hearing the news, I feel very guilty"

Half a day after discovering the body of the unfortunate child, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (born in 1954, in Dong Que village, Me So commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen) had tears in his eyes. Mr. Thanh was the only person who encountered the suspect who kidnapped the child before the heartbreaking incident happened.

At around 5:00 p.m. on September 19, Mr. Thanh finished his daily farm work when he saw a woman riding a white Honda Lead, carrying a child, going in the opposite direction.

At a distance of about 3 meters, the woman asked him: "Sir, does this road lead to the Mexican market?"

Mr. Thanh replied that he could not go, if he wanted to go he would have to take another road because this direction led to the field. The woman then remained silent, stopped the motorbike, picked up the child, sat him on the front of the motorbike, and turned around.

Then, they walked the same way at a distance of 2-3m. After about 30m, Mr. Thanh cut to another road to continue home.

Recalling the time a day before, Mr. Thanh said the girl cried a lot. The woman tried to comfort her, "Stop crying," but the baby cried even louder, pulling off her hat, socks, and mask.

"I clearly saw the child wearing a gray-brown shirt, and the woman wearing a red sun-protection shirt and a yellow hat," said Mr. Thanh.

This morning, when he went to the bridge and learned about the incident, Mr. Thanh coordinated with the authorities to find the victim. At around noon, they discovered the child's body in the ditch at the beginning of the village. He personally helped to lift the victim's body, and the man confirmed that the victim was the girl he had seen with the woman the previous afternoon. The victim's clothes were completely identical, except for the child's sandals that were missing.

"Yesterday afternoon I saw my beautiful granddaughter, but in just a moment she was gone forever. I feel guilty for not knowing to prevent this," Mr. Thanh said, tears welling up in his eyes.

"I met him for the first and last time in his life, so I fulfilled my duty and prepared everything for him," Mr. Thanh continued, saying that when the family arrived, he and his family completed the traditional procedures for the baby.

Kidnapping suspect demands 1.5 billion ransom

Regarding the case of a 21-month-old girl (Gia Lam district, Hanoi) being kidnapped, the leader of Hung Yen Provincial Police said that according to initial verification, the suspect demanded 1.5 billion VND in ransom from the family.

The family then gave 350 million VND to this person. To this day, the police are still searching for the suspect.

At noon the same day, the authorities found the child's body in a ditch in Me So commune (Van Giang district, Hung Yen province). The authorities then blocked the road leading to the area to conduct an autopsy.

Previously, social networks shared images, clips and a lot of information related to the child kidnapping case in a high-class urban area bordering Gia Lam district (Hanoi) and Van Giang district (Hung Yen).

The incident occurred on the evening of September 19, when a child, about 2 years old, was abducted by a woman. The suspect used to be a domestic worker for the family, and after quitting her job, the family still hired this woman to take the child to and from daycare. The incident was reported to the police and local authorities.

Speaking to the press, the leader of Hanoi Police also confirmed that the investigation agency has begun verifying information about a kidnapped child.
