McLaren launches GT MSO supercar, limited edition of only 8 cars worldwide

According to Vietnamnet September 23, 2023 21:30

The McLaren GT MSO has an exterior inspired by the McLaren F1, P1 and Speedtail supercars.

The McLaren GT is a grand tourer sports car from the Woking (UK)-based car company, first launched in 2019. Recently, McLaren's special department MSO (McLaren Special Operations) has just introduced a limited edition of the McLaren GT exclusively for the UK market.

The highlight of this limited edition is the 4 bespoke paint colors inspired by the legends F1, P1 and Speedtail. In addition, this collection is limited to only 8 units, making it even more special.

Cerulean Blue is inspired by the McLaren P1 hypercar

Originally created exclusively for the McLaren P1 hybrid supercar, Cerulean Blue is also a product of the MSO division. With a deep metallic blue tone combined with a pearl effect, Cerulean Blue is not an unfamiliar option for McLaren owners. However, this is the first time this option is available on the GT line.

XP Green paint comes from one of the biggest icons in the automotive industry – McLaren F1

The XP Green paint scheme pays homage to the legendary McLaren F1. The car’s deep metallic green hue comes from the F1 XP GT “Longtail” prototype, which played a significant role in McLaren’s victory at its first Le Mans appearance in 1995.

Sarigan Quartz paint comes from the Speedtail, the fastest McLaren in the world

The Sarigan Quartz exterior color is inspired by the McLaren Speedtail XP2. This is the car that achieved a speed record when it surpassed the limit of more than 400 km/h more than 30 times at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. According to some experts, the new Speedtail is the "successor" of the legendary McLaren F1 because it possesses a unique 3-seat design that few high-performance sports cars are equipped with.

Cyber Yellow is a new upgrade to the signature Volcano Yellow color.

The final paint option is a completely new option, developed by MSO specifically for this project. Cyber Yellow is an evolution of the brand’s signature Volcano Yellow paint with an added pearlescent effect. Along with Volcano Orange, this shade is often seen on McLaren supercars, especially the McLaren P1.

Furthermore, the exterior of these cars is equipped with the standard MSO Black Pack, with details such as the exterior mirror caps, window frames, exhaust pipes, 10-spoke alloy wheels, hood, etc. designed in dark colors. However, the car's brake calipers will be painted the same color as the exterior.

On the interior, this special collection features decorative motifs in the same color as the exterior paint on the backrests and seat cushions, with the MSO logo embroidered on the headrests. The center console and key surface are decorated with Union Jack motifs as a special tribute to the British market.

There is no change in the performance of this car. Developed from the MonoCell II-T carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the McLaren GT is equipped with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, maximum capacity of 620 horsepower and maximum torque of 630 Nm. The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, before reaching a maximum speed of 326 km/h.

McLaren GT is distributed in Vietnam with a starting price of about 16 billion VND.

The price of the special edition of the McLaren GT line in the UK market has not been announced, but this number will certainly be higher than 200,000 USD because of the special equipment and limited production of 8 cars.

In Vietnam, McLaren GT is officially distributed with a starting price of about 16 billion VND, with main competitors such as Aston Martin DB11 V8 or Ferrari Roma.
