A tycoon in Vung Tau spent 17 billion to buy the McLaren Artura Spider supercar, even though this model was just launched 1 month ago.
Five years ago, convertible supercars were rarely chosen by Vietnamese tycoons due to unsuitable operating conditions. However, in recent years, more and more tycoons have chosen to buy convertible supercars. For example, the Ferrari F8 Spider and McLaren 720S Spider both have more cars than the Coupe version.
The McLaren Artura Spider model is no exception, when the official distributor just launched it in early December 2024, but after only 1 month, the first one appeared in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and is waiting for a license plate.
The owner of the car is currently unknown, but based on the image, the car appeared with a Maserati MC20 supercar worth more than 16 billion VND with a license plate from this province.
This British supercar has a starting price of 17 billion VND. This price is significantly cheaper than its competitor Ferrari 296 GTS (priced at 23 billion VND). After buying additional options and getting a license plate, the estimated price of the car is around 19-20 billion VND.
In Vietnam, there are currently no less than 2 McLaren Arturas, including the convertible in the article and the other one with an orange exterior, a hardtop version. Compared to the convertible version, the hardtop version has a starting price of about 2.3 billion VND cheaper.
The manufacturer said that the McLaren Artura Spider still uses the same aluminum and carbon chassis structure as the Coupe (hardtop), but improves the stiffness while reducing the weight of this part by 62 kg. The dry weight of the car is now only 1,475 kg - 65 kg lighter than its rival Ferrari 296 GTS.
The Artura Spider's roof can be closed in just 11 seconds, three seconds faster than its rival, the Ferrari 296 GTB.
The car's interior is minimalist to focus on serving the driver, including: The steering wheel has absolutely no function keys, the engine attribute adjustments and steering ability are pushed to both sides behind the steering wheel, including the central touch screen.
The convertible version uses an electric motor to open/close the roof, which increases the weight of the car, so McLaren has refined the 3.0L V6 engine to increase 19 horsepower, combined with a 94 horsepower electric motor. The total power generated on this hybrid supercar is up to 690 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 330 km/h electronically limited.
