After more than 3 years of launch, the mid-size sedan KIA K8 developed on the platform of Hyundai Grandeur has finally been upgraded in appearance. Notably, many details are inspired by the EV9 electric car.
The K8 is KIA's second largest sedan in Korea after the flagship KIA K9 and is a sibling to the Hyundai Grandeur/Azera, launched in 2021. This model will replace the Kia Cadenza/K7 that has been discontinued in the North American market.
After more than 3 years of launching in the domestic market, the Korean car company has decided to refresh the KIA K8 with a mid-cycle upgrade version, focusing on changes in design.
The highlight of the exterior of the 2025 KIA K8 is the new LED headlight cluster, inspired by the KIA EV9 electric car. The slimmer “tiger nose” grille now features a horizontal high-tech LED strip, while the vertical LED daytime running lights are reminiscent of the Cadillac CT5.
In addition, the hood is more angular and the front bumper is newly designed with lower and larger air intakes to cool the engine effectively. At the rear, the taillights spread to both sides have been refined with sharper LED graphics, and the bumper has also been renewed. These are all notable details of this upgrade.
According to Carscoops, KIA has not released any interior images of the 2025 K8, but revealed that there will be a few minor changes. The interior of the previous KIA K8 mid-size sedan already had a 12.3-inch seamless dual-screen interface, a 12-inch HUD display, and many ADAS driving assistance systems.
In terms of power, the 2025 KIA K8's powertrain is likely to remain the same as the current model with 2.5L I4 and 3.5L V6 gasoline engine options, 1.6 HEV hybrid engine and 3.5L V6 LPG liquefied gas engine.
Full specifications and pricing details for the new 2025 KIA K8 will be announced by the company in August. Since its launch in 2021, the current KIA K8 mid-size sedan has sold more than 130,000 units in the domestic Korean market.
