Prosecution of former ward chairman for assisting in appropriation of 53 plots of land

On September 28, the Investigation Police Agency of Bien Hoa City Police issued a decision to prosecute the former chairman of An Hoa ward, Mr. Phan Thanh Sac.

Mr. Phan Thanh Sac was prosecuted to investigate the act of taking advantage of his position and power while performing official duties.

According to the investigation, around March 2021, with his position, Mr. Sac and the ward's cadastral officers assisted a number of people in making related documents to appropriate 53 plots of land on map sheet No. 2, An Hoa commune (now An Hoa ward) of a number of other households.

From the people's report, the police investigated and determined Mr. Sac's violation, so they decided to prosecute the case and prosecute the defendant for investigation.

In addition to Mr. Sac, the police are also continuing to expand the investigation of the case, determining the roles of other related people.

Previously, in December 2020, Bien Hoa City People's Committee issued a decision to discipline Mr. Phan Thanh Sac (then Chairman of An Hoa Ward People's Committee) by removing him from office due to illegal construction in the locality.

Specifically, as Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, Mr. Sac was determined to be irresponsible in management and leadership during the 2018-2020 period. He loosened management, allowing the situation of illegal and unlicensed land subdivision and construction to occur in the area.
