Prosecuted 3 people who beat male shipper to death

On the afternoon of January 23, Hoa Vang District Police (Da Nang) announced that Tran Van Minh Toan, Nguyen Thanh Tung, both 26 years old, and Tran Hoang Thien, 19 years old (all residing in Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District) were prosecuted and detained for intentionally causing injury. according to Article 134 of the Penal Code.

Authorities accused Tung, Toan and Thien of using dangerous weapons and using their hands and feet to beat a male shipper, causing his death.

Three suspects have pleaded guilty.

According to the investigation, Ms. Tran Thanh Thao, 26 years old, residing in Giang Nam 2 village, Hoa Phuoc commune, ordered goods online through an e-commerce platform. At noon on January 17, Mr. Tran Thanh, 31 years old, delivered an order worth 375,000 VND including floor cleaner, carpet cleaner, and wet towels to Ms. Thao.

Ms. Thao was not home so she asked her father, Mr. Tran Hiep, 49 years old, to receive the goods for her and at the same time informed the shipper to pay the money by bank transfer. A few hours after texting the account number but still not receiving the money, Mr. Thanh called Thao many times but could not get through.

That same afternoon, Ms. Thao called Mr. Thanh back and the two sides had a conflict. Thinking that Mr. Thanh had an inappropriate attitude, Ms. Thao reported it to the company where he worked.

Around 11pm, after drinking, Mr. Thanh was upset about being reported so he went to see Thao at home. Because Thao was not home and Mr. Thanh was a bit drunk, Mr. Hiep advised him to go home.

While Mr. Thanh was standing in front of Mr. Hiep's house, Ms. Thao, Toan and Tung came back from the New Year's Eve dinner. Mr. Thanh and Ms. Thao continued to argue.

Toan and Tung hit Thanh on the head and body. About 5 minutes later, Thien (Thao's younger brother) was informed by his family and ran back, jumped in and continued to hit him with his helmet.

After Mr. Hiep intervened, Mr. Thanh took the car home and went to bed to rest. At around 0:30 on January 18, his wife discovered that he was having difficulty breathing, so she called his uncle for help. However, Mr. Thanh died shortly after.

During the night, Hoa Vang District Police summoned relevant people and ordered emergency detention of Tung, Toan, and Thien.

According to Ms. Thao's family, on the night of the incident, the three suspects had been drinking alcohol.
