The iPhone 16 Pro will likely feature under-screen Face ID technology, a feature highly anticipated by iFans.

According to The Elec, Apple is said to be moving the components needed for ‌Face ID‌ authentication under the ‌iPhone‌'s display by 2024.

When not in use, the TrueDepth camera for ‌Face ID‌ is hidden, leaving the surrounding screen area seamless.

The report also says that the punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera will remain on the iPhone 16 Pro, but the display area will be improved. The cutout will remain the same from the iPhone 14 Pro to the iPhone 15 Pro later this year, as the under-display technology is not ready yet.

This also coincides with leaked news that all four iPhone 15 models will offer Dynamic Island, expanding from the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to the two standard iPhone models by the end of 2023.

The report adds that when Apple implements under-screen Face ID technology, it will soon switch to an under-screen camera, so future iPhones will no longer have a cutout on the screen. This matches the predictions made by analyst Ross Young in May 2022.

With the 2024 iPhone series, the Pro models will be the first to feature new display improvements of this type, like Dynamic Island that first appeared on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will still use a notch display.

According to the panel technology cycle, which will last a maximum of 2 generations on the iPhone, it is likely that the full-screen iPhone will launch in 2027.
