iPhone 16 Pro Max arrives in Vietnam, price nearly 80 million VND

After a few hours of global sales, the first iPhone 16s were brought to Ho Chi Minh City, mainly the Pro line. Tuan Thanh, the owner of an iPhone store in District 10, said a customer immediately bought the 512GB iPhone 16 Pro in desert gold for VND68 million, nearly double the VND37 million of the genuine product. Meanwhile, the 1TB iPhone 16 Pro Max is being offered for VND79 million.

"These are the first iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max in Vietnam," Mr. Thanh confirmed, because the devices were purchased at Apple Store Singapore at 8am and brought back to Vietnam.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is still the best-selling model, but some stores said the device is quite large because of the increased size to 6.9 inches. Therefore, the level of interest in the iPhone 16 Pro is significantly higher than last year. "I bought the Pro version because the screen is just enough and it fits very well in my hand," said Manh Hiep, who spent 68 million VND to buy an iPhone 16 Pro in Vietnam.

Le Hieu, a representative of a phone store in Hanoi, said that prices will drop rapidly this afternoon as hand-carried goods from Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan gradually arrive in Vietnam. However, the fact that Apple Store Online sold out within three minutes of opening for sale on the morning of September 20 in Vietnam may cause hand-carried goods to remain at high prices for longer, especially new colors.

It is not uncommon for new iPhone colors to sell out quickly in the first batch of orders, which happened with the purple iPhone 14 Pro Max, natural titanium 15 Pro Max, and most recently the desert titanium 16 Pro Max in low-capacity versions.

According to an industry expert, this comes from two factors. The first is the user's taste, the desire to own early machines with new features, easily distinguishable from the old model in appearance, suitable for experience or gifting. In addition, companies or stores can predict in advance that the new color will be of interest, so they supply it in small quantities to create scarcity for the product on the market.

The iPhone 16 quartet was launched on September 9 (early morning of September 10, Hanoi time) with designs and specifications no different from the information leaked before the event. In particular, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus changed the camera design, equipped with an Action button instead of a volume mode switch, and the main camera was upgraded to 48 megapixels. The two Pro models have a 0.2-inch larger screen than before, and the ultra-wide-angle camera has a resolution of 48 megapixels. All four have a new shutter button. Apple equipped the standard iPhone 16 with the A18 chip and the iPhone 16 Pro with the A18 Pro.
