After a month of sale, a series of errors were recorded on the iPhone 16 generation, mainly related to software.
Apple announced the iPhone 16 on September 9 and it went on sale on September 20. On technology forums and Apple's customer care page, many users reported some problems related to the product. The company usually does not comment, but will quietly handle it through updates.
Touch error
This is considered the first recorded error of the new generation iPhone, mainly occurring with the two Pro versions. According toMacRumors, a few days after the sale, a series of users said that the response on the iPhone screen was slow, high latency, and occasional problems with touching and swiping. Some later said that the cause was the Camera Control button and as long as they did not touch this area, the error would not occur.
In the iOS 18.0.1 update in early October, Apple fixed the issue.
Freezes while recording 4K video
Since late September, some users on social networks such as Reddit, X, forumsMacRumorsas well as on the Apple support page complaining that their iPhone 16 "froze" when recording 4K macro mode video. Most said they had to use the hardware button to restart the device. However, when using the return feature, the error continued to occur.
Apple also fixed the bug in the iOS 18.0.1 update.
"Crash" camera
"My iPhone 16 Pro Max repeatedly exits the camera app while in use. It even affects when operating on other apps like FaceTime, or video calling from third-party apps like Messenger. I got a new phone when I went for warranty, but still encountered the same problem," accountSabi14wrote on Apple's support page on October 11 and received 60 "Me too" clicks.
In the comments section, some said they could not take pictures with the camera. When they pressed the button, the application automatically exited and returned to the lock screen. The only way was to restart the device, but the problem was easy to repeat.
Stuck during setup
Some people are complaining that the iPhone 16 crashes during setup. Specifically, they are "stuck" on the Cellular Setup Complete screen with a spinning icon, unable to move forward. In some cases, both the new phone and the old device they are transferring data to are "frozen".
According toAndroid Authority, the common solution is to restart the iPhone by holding the power button and the volume button. Although it was recorded since early October, Apple has not yet provided a solution.
Panic Full error, Reset Counter
In mid-October, some users in Vietnam and around the world said that their iPhone 16 had a Panic Full error - a phenomenon where the device suddenly shuts down, or Reset Counter - automatically restarting dozens of times. Most of the cases encountered in Vietnam were iPhone 16 Pro Max, because it was the most chosen version when it was sold.
Apple also did not comment on the incident, but on October 21, the company released iOS 18.1 RC to fix the Reset Counter issue.
Other errors
These are lesser-known bugs that Apple has addressed in updates. For example, in iOS 18.0.1, Apple fixed a bug where the Messages app would freeze when encountering strange characters, or a memory allocation issue that affected performance on iPhones. Meanwhile, iOS 18.1 RC fixed a problem where the Podcasts app could cause unplayed episodes to be marked as played, a glitchy image, an overheating issue when rewinding 4K 60fps videos in the Photos app, or an issue where you couldn't start your car with the iPhone's built-in digital key.
