Apple has officially started assembling the entire iPhone 16 lineup in India, marking a major milestone in the company's strategy to expand manufacturing outside of China.

This is the next step in Apple's efforts to diversify its supply chain, while also affirming India's growing role in its global network.

This time, Apple has shifted production of its premium iPhone 16 Pro models to India, something that has never happened before. The move is part of the company’s long-term strategy to increase the resilience and flexibility of its global supply chain.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to be available in India later this month and will be exported to select international markets, a testament not only to Apple’s strong growth in India but also to the country’s growing importance in the company’s global operations.

Apart from assembling iPhones, Apple is also expanding its presence in India with plans to open four new retail stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai.

These stores will add to Apple's retail network in Delhi and Mumbai, where stores are set to open in April 2023.
