Many retail systems are advertising the iPhone 16e at a price 300,000 - 500,000 VND cheaper than the Apple Store, a rare move before a new iPhone model is about to be sold in Vietnam.
The iPhone 16e was launched on February 19 and will be available in the domestic market from March 7. Pre-orders are available but no deposit is required. Three days before the official launch, users still have full options, including black and white versions and 128, 256 and 512 GB capacities.
The starting price on Apple Store Online in Vietnam for the iPhone 16e is 17 million VND, but most major retail systems have set lower prices. CellPhoneS, Viettel Store, Shopdunk and FPT Shop offer immediate discounts of 300,000 to 500,000 VND for pre-order users and an additional 200,000-300,000 VND for loyal customers. Buyers can also apply card swiping and QR code scanning promotions with a total discount of nearly 1 million VND.
The systems said this is a rare time when a new iPhone that has not yet been sold has been reduced compared to Apple's listed price. Previously, the "hot" Pro and Pro Max lines were even priced higher than listed, while more selective models such as the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus only saw a slight reduction after a period of sale.
"The number of users who pre-ordered the iPhone 16e is much lower than the iPhone 16 when it was launched, but higher than our expectations," said a representative of a retail system. Users mainly preferred the black version, accounting for 60%, and the 128GB version accounting for nearly 80%.
The iPhone 16e is the cheapest new member of the iPhone 16 series, and is also the first model equipped with a cellular modem designed by Apple. The device has a compact design with a 6.1-inch screen, a "rabbit ear" design like the iPhone 13, an A18 chip that fully supports Apple Intelligence features, and good battery life thanks to its large capacity.
Series of iPhones discounted in Vietnam
In early March, a series of systems also adjusted the prices of many iPhone models according to Apple's policy. This is a common move when the market enters a slow season, sales are down, so it is necessary to reduce prices to stimulate demand. Large systems set the same price, while small retailers can sell 400,000-600,000 VND lower.

Of which, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has dropped by nearly two million to 31.5 million VND compared to last month. This model is currently about 3.5 million VND lower than Apple's listed price and most color and capacity versions are available. The iPhone 16 Pro has also dropped by 1.5 million to 25.9 million VND.
The biggest price drop is for the iPhone 15, from 19 million to 16 million VND, while the iPhone 14 is from 16 million to 13.5 million VND. The iPhone 16 Plus has the biggest price drop in the iPhone 16 line, from 26 million to 23 million VND. Older models like the iPhone 13 have slightly decreased to 12.3 million VND.
With the new price, the iPhone 16e is about 3 million VND cheaper than the iPhone 16 and about 1.5 million VND more expensive than the iPhone 15. Maintaining the sale of the old model helps Apple to be present in the mid-range, near-high-end to high-end segments.
