Farmers in Nam Sach (Hai Duong) are being supported to consume hundreds of tons of caged fish.
As of 6 a.m. on September 13, 144 out of more than 3,500 fish cages in Nam Sach district (Hai Duong) were sunk, drifted, or broken. The cause was water fern, trash, and tree trunks from upstream, which were pushed down by rising floodwaters and crashed into people's fish cages. The floodwaters are still high, creating great pressure and potentially unsafe conditions for fish cages.
The People's Committee of Nam Sach district has advised cage fish farmers to harvest fish to minimize damage and requested provincial departments, agencies, organizations and businesses to support local fish consumption. This morning, September 13, they will focus on supporting the consumption of about 100 tons of fish in Nam Tan and Nam Hung communes.
Hai Duong Province Young Entrepreneurs Association supports 4 trucks to continuously transport and consume fish for local people. It is expected that the Association will support the consumption of about 70 - 100 tons of caged fish in Nam Sach District.
Nam Sach District Farmers' Association is actively supporting connections with businesses, organizations and individuals who can come and get fish in large quantities of 1 ton or more.
Associations, unions and agencies in Nam Sach district mobilized members and union members to actively support cage fish farmers in harvesting and selling products, and called for and connected fish consumption sources to reduce losses for farmers.
Along the Thai Binh River dike, many people come to buy fish or help transport fish to gathering points in the center of Nam Sach town and some other communes for people to conveniently buy.
Previously, on September 12, the Nam Sach District Farmers' Association directly sold over 2 tons of fish to help farmers in Nam Hung and Hiep Cat communes at a selling price of 120,000 VND/fish, about 30,000 - 40,000 VND/kg.
