Now, new, spacious houses have taken shape on the ruins of old houses that were knocked down by storm No. 3 in Hai Duong.
Community together
Storm No. 3 has left many families in Hai Duong homeless. To help the affected people reduce their housing difficulties, based on the review and statistics of the localities, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province has agreed to support 16 collapsed and washed away houses, 230 severely damaged houses, with a total amount of 6.55 billion VND (support for new construction of 50 million VND/house, support for repair of 25 million VND/house).
In addition to the government's support, organizations and philanthropists inside and outside the province also joined hands to support people with housing after the storm. According to the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, this time, Thien Tam Fund (Vingroup) supported the construction of 18 collapsed and severely damaged houses in Hai Duong with a level of 60 million VND/house. The voice of Hai Duong Newspaper and a number of press agencies and social media mobilized many philanthropists to help other addresses.
Localities with people who suffered losses joined hands to share. Mr. Pham Van Canh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lien Mac Commune (Thanh Ha) said that in the commune, the house of Mr. Pham Van Cong and Mrs. Pham Thi Thuong (both born in 1970, in Mac Dong village) was completely collapsed. As soon as receiving the information, the commune sent forces to support the family to stabilize their lives, and at the same time called on officials and people in the commune to join hands to support. To date, the commune has received a total of more than 177 million VND in support for Mr. Cong and Mrs. Thuong's family to build a new house. Mr. Cong and Mrs. Thuong were not quick-witted, so to ensure the source of funding, the commune had to send village officials and relatives to receive the money and supervise the construction of the new house.
Localities have mobilized many resources to support people with housing. Kinh Mon is one of the localities heavily affected by storm No. 3 in terms of housing. Up to now, in addition to the houses supported according to regulations, the town has also supported 7 households with revolutionary contributions and 14 other households with damaged houses, with a total amount of over 291 million VND. The town's Labor Federation and grassroots unions have encouraged and supported 30 union members and workers in difficult circumstances whose housing was affected after the storm and flood, with a total amount of 51 million VND...
Like a dream
Mr. Cong and Mrs. Thuong's new house has taken shape these days. The house is more than 45 m wide.2, flat roof, 2 bedrooms, 1 living room. The kitchen and bathroom area is in the back, covered with corrugated iron, spacious. The project is in the final stages of completion so that the family can welcome the new year.
The new house was like a dream because Mr. Cong and Mrs. Thuong's family were poor. The old house was made of bricks and had a shabby corrugated iron roof. Storm No. 3 came and the family was caught off guard. The roof and the wall collapsed. At that time, Mrs. Thuong had to hold her child in her arms to protect herself, and bricks fell on her. With no home left, her family had to stay with someone else.
“At that time, I cried because all my belongings were buried in the collapsed house. Not to mention the new house, even the things for living were gone. Both my husband and I were weak, we had to do whatever people hired us to do, it was so hard. But I never expected that thanks to the help, now my family will have a new house,” Mrs. Thuong said emotionally.
The house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Quy (born in 1936) in An Quy village, Nguyen Giap commune (Tu Ky) could not withstand storm No. 3 and collapsed. Fortunately, Mrs. Quy and her child who lived with her were not affected in health. However, due to difficult circumstances, Mrs. Quy could not afford to rebuild a new house.
The joint support of Thien Tam Fund and a kind individual in the area has almost enough funding to help Mr. Quy build a new 50 m2 house.2, solidly roofed with corrugated iron, clean. “I am very happy. After the storm, I thought I would lose my house, but now I have a new, more beautiful house. Thank you everyone for supporting my mother and I,” Mr. Quy happily shared when living in the newly completed house.
The joy of Mr. Cong, Mrs. Thuong and Mr. Quy's families is also the common joy of hundreds of families in Hai Duong who were helped to rebuild their houses after the storm. When the Party Committee, government and organizations got involved, with the help of philanthropists and the media, a large-scale movement was created to help people who lost their homes due to the storm.
