About 10 hectares of garlic in Nam Tan commune are being harvested by farmers and sold to traders right in the field. According to the reporter's records, although it is the end of the season, the garlic plants are still quite green, with healthy roots, blooming clumps, large bulbs, and more beautiful appearance than last year.

Fresh garlic yield harvested in the field reached an average of 1 ton/sao, an increase of about 15% compared to the same period last year. This is also the yield level in most garlic growing areas in the district.

The yield of fresh garlic in the winter crop of 2024 is high due to favorable weather from the beginning of the season, with little rain and pests. Farmers actively use beneficial biological products to improve the soil, helping garlic plants grow and develop healthily.

In addition to Nam Tan commune, farmers in some communes in Nam Sach district such as Cong Hoa and Thai Tan are also harvesting the remaining winter garlic fields and converting the land to grow spring vegetables.

In the 2024 winter crop, Nam Sach district planted 1,621 hectares of onions, garlic and onions (ranked second in the province after Kinh Mon town), with garlic alone accounting for 69.1 hectares. Farmers mainly grow purple garlic because it is spicier and more delicious than white garlic, and is favored by the market.

Previously, after the Lunar New Year, farmers in the district had completed harvesting the entire onion area. The average yield was about 800 kg/sao. Growing onions and garlic helped farmers earn an average profit of 5 - 6 million VND/sao.
