Having been in the education business for many years, as soon as Circular No. 29/2024/TT-BGDDT dated December 30, 2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating extra teaching and learning was issued, a representative of Tan Viet Phat Trading Joint Stock Company in Tan Viet Commune (Thanh Ha) registered to add the business line of secondary and high school education. To meet the conditions of the new business line, the company built 10 more classrooms and recruited 5-10 teachers to teach extra subjects. It is expected that by around April, this enterprise will complete the facilities, ensure human resources and conduct extra teaching activities.

Immediately after Circular 29 was issued, Mr. Pham Duy Khuongalso completed procedures to open the FTC Education and Training Center in his hometown at Hamlet 1, Xuan Neo Village, Hung Dao Commune (Tu Ky) with the purpose of organizing extra teaching, multi-program learning, and life skills education. Currently, the center has recruited staff including teachers of math, literature, English, history, geography, administrative staff, communications... and is completing the conditions to prepare to start operating.

According to Mr. Khuong, the centers are opened to meet the real needs of students. They study the subjects they need, not many subjects like open schools.

Many centers have a team of teachers and teaching facilities that meet the new requirements set by the Ministry of Education and Training. This will be an opportunity for centers to organize extra classes, solving the real need to improve students' knowledge without having to follow the trend of extra classes.

Worry about "attracting" good teachers

Having many years of experience in the education sector, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan in Hai Duong City is completing the necessary paperwork to establish a tutoring and learning center. According to Mr. Tuan, in addition to modern facilities for teaching, human resources are the most important factor in attracting teachers.

"The center has partnered with a number of high-quality schools in the area and will sign labor contracts with a number of excellent teachers. For those teachers, long-term contracts will be signed, and the center will have more welfare policies to retain teachers," added Mr. Tuan.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, whose child is studying at a secondary school in Hop Tien commune (Nam Sach), said that his child is in grade 9, and the school has informed parents that they can find review classes for their children at centers or hire tutors. However, at this time when students are racing to prepare for the 10th grade entrance exam, changing teachers as well as finding tutoring centers is very difficult. "We have to rely on the quality of teachers at the centers to decide on tutoring for our children and accept the increase in tutoring costs," said Mr. Hung.

In addition to human resources, the location of the center is also a matter of concern. In reality, many centers are established in urban areas, so registering for extra classes in these areas will be easy and convenient for both parents and students. However, in rural areas, not every commune has a center for students to take extra classes, so some parents worry that their children have to travel dozens of kilometers to town or to neighboring communes to study.

A parent in Tu Ky said: "Opening a tutoring center is not simple, so not everyone can open one. To take extra classes, children have to travel quite far, and traveling is very dangerous. We parents cannot always take them there and pick them up. I don't know how to solve this problem yet," said this parent.

In the context of many innovations in education policies, tutoring and learning centers need to quickly make changes to adapt to the new situation.

Parents need to choose a suitable tutoring center for their children so that tutoring is no longer a pressure and brings positive results, according to desired needs.
