The "8X" teacher in Hai Duong spreads the passion for mathematics to many generations of students.

“Turn difficult into easy”

Ms. Hien was born in 1980, from Tan Huong commune (Ninh Giang). Graduating from high school with honors, she was admitted directly to the University of Science and Technology, but still took the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Pharmacy and Hanoi Pedagogical University 1. She was admitted to both schools. Born into a family with a tradition of teaching, her dream of becoming a teacher like her parents and two older sisters, as well as her love for math, was nurtured and passionate about since childhood. Therefore, she chose to study at Hanoi Pedagogical University 1.

In 2002, after graduating from Hanoi Pedagogical University 1, Ms. Hien worked at Ninh Giang High School, where she used to study. In 2005, Ms. Hien transferred to Nguyen Van Cu High School and has been working there until now.

With more than 20 years of dedication and passion for the career of “growing people”, Ms. Hien has always been proactive in learning and constantly improving her professional qualifications and skills. From 2008 to 2011, she taught and studied for a master’s degree at the University of Education (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

Ms. Hien said that to overcome the one-way teaching method as well as attract students to love math, she has actively applied information technology and applied thematic teaching methods to promote students' positivity, creativity and initiative.

“The most effective way for students to love and learn math well is to always turn difficult things into easy things. I immediately relieve pressure on each student before each difficult situation in the lesson,” said Ms. Hien.

Not only focusing on teaching and developing students' abilities, initiative and creativity, Ms. Hien also coordinates with colleagues, organizations and parents in the teaching and education process to improve their learning outcomes. She is always close to and encourages weak students and assigns group assignments. Thanks to that, over the years, more than 95% of students have had average or higher results in math at the end of the year. The school's high school graduation exam results in math in recent years have always achieved high results and exceeded the set target. Many students with high math scores have been admitted to top universities such as: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Foreign Trade, National Economics, Hanoi Pharmacy, Hanoi Medical University, etc.

In the 2016-2017 school year, Ms. Hien won first prize in the provincial competition for excellent teachers. She actively helps her colleagues improve their professional skills as well as compete in competitions for excellent teachers at all levels.

Since the 2011-2012 school year, Ms. Hien has continuously participated in writing innovative experiences and has had 12 initiatives win awards. Of which, 6 initiatives won awards at the provincial level and 6 initiatives won awards at the grassroots and industry levels. The initiatives have been effectively applied in practice. In particular, the topics "Complex Numbers" and "Space Coordinates" written by her have been selected as online lectures for students to review for the high school graduation exam during the complicated period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Trusted and respected

With solid expertise, Ms. Hien is always trusted and trusted by her colleagues at the school. The school trusts her with many important tasks such as training a team of excellent students, judging a number of competitions... Hai Duong Department of Education and Training has appointed her as a core math teacher since the 2018-2019 school year; judge of the Provincial Excellent Teacher Competition, judge of provincial initiatives; participate in making questions, judging provincial excellent student competitions, and creating mock high school graduation exams for students in the whole province.

Over 17 years working at Nguyen Van Cu High School, Ms. Hien has actively participated in training excellent student teams in all 3 grades. The excellent student teams that Ms. Hien was in charge of or participated in training all achieved the set targets with 18 students winning provincial excellent student awards.

With a sense of responsibility, dedication and passion for the profession, Ms. Hien has reaped many sweet fruits during her work. In 2022, Ms. Hien was proposed to be awarded the title of "Outstanding Teacher of the Year". She is a typical representative of the patriotic emulation movement in the 2015-2020 period of the education sector attending the 5th Patriotic Emulation Congress of Hai Duong province. She was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and received many certificates of merit from the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong. Notably, in 2023, Ms. Hien was awarded the title of Excellent Teacher by the President.
