Smoke and fire suddenly flared up and engulfed four houses located next to each other on Highway 13 at Binh Phuoc intersection, Thu Duc City.
At nearly 6 a.m. on March 1, a fire broke out in a plastic goods store on Highway 13. Many people shouted and used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful.
The fire flared up fiercely and then spread to two other houses. The burning houses were mostly prefabricated, level 4 houses. The column of smoke rose dozens of meters high.
Ms. Minh Nga, who lives near the scene, said the fire started from a household goods and plastic goods store of more than 100 square meters and then spread to a beverage shop, parking lot, and a real estate brokerage company.
"The fire broke out very quickly, accompanied by an explosion, so many people initially tried to run to put out the fire but were afraid of being hit by exploding debris," said Ms. Nga.
Nearly 10 fire trucks and more than 50 firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters used hoses to put out the fire from many directions, preventing it from spreading.
At nearly 8 o'clock, smoke was still billowing. Because the house contained a lot of plastic and cardboard, the fire was still smoldering. Firefighters were using hammers to break down the walls and spraying water to cool it down, preventing the fire from flaring up again.
