Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will co-chair the 15th meeting of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation and meet with senior Vietnamese leaders.
On November 30, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Politburo member and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Vietnam.
Chinese Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chen Liuguang co-chaired the 15th meeting of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee from December 1-2.
Mr. Wang Yi is expected to pay a courtesy call to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong; meet with Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung; and hold talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
In recent times, Vietnam-China relations have generally maintained a development trend and achieved many positive results, especially after the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (October 30 - November 1, 2022). Since the beginning of 2023, senior leaders of the two sides have maintained regular exchanges.
Regarding trade: In 2022, Vietnam-China import-export turnover reached 175.56 billion USD (up 5.47%). Vietnam continues to hold the position of China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and China's 4th largest trading partner by individual country.
In the first 9 months of 2023, China's investment reached nearly 2.1 billion USD with 478 projects, making it the 2nd largest FDI investor in Vietnam. China maintained its 6th position out of 144 countries and territories investing FDI in Vietnam with more than 4,000 valid projects, with a total registered capital of more than 26 billion USD.
Regarding tourism, China has been the leader in the number of tourists to Vietnam for many years. From March 15, 2023, China officially resumed allowing tourist groups to travel to Vietnam, reopened some commercial flights between localities of the two countries (Hanoi - Beijing) and adjusted visa, entry and exit, and medical quarantine policies for foreigners coming to China.
