On March 12, the People's Procuracy of Bac Ninh announced that the unit approved the decision to prosecute and detain Nguyen Khac Dat (born in 2003, residing in Van Diem village, Van Ha commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi) to investigate the act of property theft.
Previously, on March 2, the People's Procuracy of Bac Ninh province received a report from the Investigation Police Agency (PC01) of Bac Ninh Provincial Police regarding: On March 1, 2025, at the CellphoneS phone store (No. 242 Tran Phu, Tran Phu quarter, Dong Ngan ward, Tu Son city, Bac Ninh) managed by Mr. Tran Thanh Kh. (born in 1995, residing in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province), 26 new iPhones were stolen by thieves, with a total loss of nearly 800 million VND.
After receiving the report, the People's Procuracy of Bac Ninh province sent prosecutors to coordinate with the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Ninh province to examine the scene and apply investigation and verification measures.
The initial verification process determined that from February 10 to February 28, Nguyen Khac Dat, a salesman at the CellphoneS phone store, took advantage of loopholes in the store's management to steal the above phone number and then resell it to retail phone stores.
Dat used the money from selling the phone for personal expenses.
On March 2, Dat turned himself in to the Investigation Agency. The Investigation Agency seized 23 iPhones and 1 phone case that Dat had stolen.
Based on the collected documents, on March 4, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Ninh Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case and on March 10 issued a decision to prosecute the accused and an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Khac Dat for the crime of "theft of property" as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 173 of the Penal Code.
