On the morning of December 24, Tay Ninh Provincial Police officially informed about the explosion that caused 6 casualties at a house in Thanh Tay Hamlet, Thanh Tay Commune, Tan Bien District.
At the same time, people are advised to be vigilant against the dangerous effects on life, property and violations of the law from the acts of buying, selling, using, storing firecrackers, firecracker materials and illegal firecracker manufacturing.
According to information from the victims' families, there was one death after being transferred from Tay Ninh to Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City for treatment.
In the initial investigation, Tay Ninh police determined that at 2:30 p.m. on December 23, at the house of Mr. PPĐ. (born in 1985, residing in Thanh Tay hamlet, Thanh Tay commune, Tan Bien district), Mr. D.'s son and a group of friends (aged 14-17, residing in Tan Bien district) suffered burns and severe multiple injuries after a loud explosion.
Neighbors rushed to the house and discovered that the brick wall had collapsed. The teenagers suffered burns and other injuries so they were quickly taken to Tan Bien District Medical Center for emergency treatment, then transferred to Tay Ninh Provincial General Hospital.
The police determined that the cause of the explosion was a group of teenagers who ordered fireworks online to make their own fireworks, and were careless in causing an explosion that caused casualties (not a suspected gas tank explosion as initially reported).
Through examination of the scene, it was found that the entire roof was blown off, the walls collapsed, there were many objects resembling homemade firecrackers and the smell of gunpowder.
Previously, on the afternoon of December 23, the Emergency Department of Tay Ninh General Hospital received and treated 6 cases of burns and serious injuries transferred from Tan Bien District Medical Center. The patients all suffered severe burns (from 40% to 60%) and multiple injuries related to a large explosion in Tan Bien District.
After being admitted, the victims received initial first aid. However, due to severe and extensive burns, along with multiple injuries, 4/6 victims were transferred from Tay Ninh General Hospital to Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City for further treatment that same evening.
Previously, on December 19, at the house of Mr. B.D.L. (49 years old, residing in Soc Lao hamlet, Don Thuan commune, Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province), LBK (12 years old, Mr. L.'s grandson) went online to order firecrackers (ball type).
Then, K. took out the explosives from the firecracker and made a homemade explosive device in a plastic tube. During the process, the firecracker exploded, causing the glass doors and tiled roof of Mr. L.'s level 4 house to shatter and scatter everywhere. K. was seriously injured and was taken to Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) by his family for emergency treatment...
According to Tay Ninh Provincial Police, recently, there have been many cases of illegal self-made fireworks following instructions on social networks, causing fires and explosions, affecting the lives and property of families and others.
Illegal fireworks manufacturing is often done by teenagers and students who are curious, like to express themselves, and are not aware of the consequences of their illegal behavior. Materials and ingredients for making fireworks are often exchanged and sold through social networking sites.
To prevent the illegal manufacture of fireworks, ensure security and order before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, Tay Ninh Police recommend that families regularly coordinate with schools to manage their children, not allowing them to arbitrarily exchange, buy, or sell materials to illegally manufacture fireworks, as well as use social networks, friendships, etc.
Tay Ninh Provincial Police also recommended that localities and schools need to increase propaganda to raise awareness and consciousness among teenagers and students about the harmful effects and consequences of using and making illegal fireworks.
When detecting cases with suspicious signs of illegal buying, storing, transporting, or manufacturing of fireworks, it is necessary to promptly report to the nearest police agency for handling.
