While learning and making fireworks according to instructions on Youtube, 4 students in Quang Binh were severely burned by exploding fireworks.
On the morning of December 7, a representative of the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital (Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh) said that doctors and nurses at the hospital are treating and monitoring the health of four students who were hospitalized due to firecracker explosions.
According to initial information, the cause of the incident was that the children researched and made fireworks according to instructions on Youtube. During the process, the fireworks exploded, injuring the children.
Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on December 6, the hospital's Emergency Department received four students: Pham Long N., Nguyen Gia H., Nguyen Gia B. (all 13 years old) and Pham Van T. (14 years old), all residing in Truong Son commune, Quang Ninh district (Quang Binh) admitted to the emergency room in a state of severe burns, swelling of the entire face, forearms, hands, and lower legs on both sides with a burn area of about 10-20% of the body.
Doctors and nurses promptly performed emergency surgery, cleaned and stitched up the victims' wounds. The victims' health is now stable.
As the Lunar New Year 2025 approaches, homemade firecrackers pose a risk of causing serious burns, bodily injury, and even life-threatening.
Local authorities, families and schools need to increase propaganda, supervision and education for children about the risks of homemade fireworks to prevent unfortunate accidents.
