A representative of the Thanh Mien District Medical Center (Hai Duong) said that on the stormy night of September 7, the center's on-duty team successfully performed open surgery on patient Nguyen Manh Hung (born in 2013) in Lam Son commune with acute appendicitis.
At around 11:30 a.m. on September 7, Nguyen Manh Hung from Lam Son commune was admitted to the hospital with abdominal pain around the navel, no vomiting, no fever. At 5 p.m., patient Hung had a high fever, pain in the right iliac fossa and was diagnosed with acute appendicitis in children.
At this time, due to the impact of storm No. 3, Thanh Mien District Medical Center lost all power and could not perform endoscopic surgery. After that, patient Hung was transferred to a higher level for treatment. However, due to heavy rain and strong winds, fallen trees across the road caused many traffic routes to be partially blocked, forcing the ambulance to turn around.
At Thanh Mien District Medical Center, with the family's consent, patient Hung was scheduled for open surgery using a lamp. After 1 hour of surgery, patient Hung's surgery was successful.
On the afternoon of September 8, this patient's health was stable and he recovered quickly.
