14 people died, 176 people were injured, more than 700 houses were damaged by storm No. 3

By 10:00 a.m. on September 8, storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) had killed 14 people and injured 176 people, including 1 dead person and 5 injured people in Hai Duong.

The above data was reported by a representative of the Department of Search and Rescue (General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army) at a conference to assess the response direction, damage situation and implementation of urgent measures to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the morning of September 8.

Specifically, as of 10:00 a.m. on September 8, storm No. 3 killed 14 people (Quang Ninh 4, Hanoi 3, Hai Phong 1, Hai Duong 1, Hoa Binh 4, Military Region 3: 1), injured 176 people (Quang Ninh 157, Hanoi 8, Hai Phong 5, Hai Duong 5, Hoa Binh 1).

Regarding assets: 38 vehicles sank, drifted, ran aground, and went missing in the coastal areas of Quang Ninh province (18 sank, 17 drifted, 1 ran aground, 2 lost contact); 744 houses were damaged and had their roofs blown off (Quang Ninh 300, Bac Giang 89, Lang Son 158, Vinh Phuc 4, Yen Bai 49, Hai Phong 1, Hoa Binh 57, Thai Binh 15, Ha Nam 9, Thanh Hoa 62); 2 schools were damaged (Vinh Phuc 1, Thai Binh 1).

In addition, the storm also damaged 9,028 hectares of rice and crops; damaged 16 broadcasting systems; broke 5,702 trees; felled or broken 40 electric poles; damaged 27 transformer stations; and damaged 3 fish cages.

Regarding the work of overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 3, the Department of Search and Rescue mobilized 17,367 people (4,730 soldiers and 12,637 militiamen) and 243 vehicles of all kinds to carry out the task.

Up to now, 38,047 households/141,843 people have been evacuated to safety; 47 people have been rescued; 4 bodies have been found and handed over to the locality.

Regarding the next implementation work, the Department of Search and Rescue will advise the head of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff to direct the entire army to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Prime Minister's telegrams on overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 3.

Specifically, strictly maintain the on-duty regime at all levels; continue to search for missing people and overcome damage caused by storm No. 3; implement measures to prevent epidemics and diseases to ensure good life and activities for soldiers and people in the stationed areas.

Do a good job of propaganda, organize visits and encourage military families, families of policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious services in areas affected by storm No. 3.

In addition, patrol and guard to ensure the safety of units, warehouses, and military bases; closely check areas at risk of flooding and landslides and organize evacuation to safe places.
