This is the main content of the official dispatch just sent by the Department of Information and Communications of Hai Duong to departments, branches, sectors and localities.

How to look up websites and domain names to prevent fraud in cyberspace

Before using services and transactions on the internet, and at the same time supporting the identification and authentication of official information sources on the network environment, organizations, businesses and people can look up website information and domain names in 2 ways.

Method 1: Send a free text message to hotline 156 using the syntax: TCTM (website name/domain name to look up) then send to 156. For example: TCTM vnnic.vn or TCTM https://vnnic.vn/.

Method 2: Look up at addresshttps://tracuutenmien.gov.vn.

The feedback information after the search will include the domain name type, the managing registration agency/unit, registration date, and expiration date.

In the above document, the Department of Information and Communications requested departments, branches, sectors, and localities to strengthen communication and coordinate with community digital technology groups to guide people regarding the above contents.

According to the assessment of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the current situation of law violations in cyberspace is becoming more and more sophisticated, manifested in many different forms such as creating fake websites of agencies, businesses, banks, e-commerce platforms... to defraud and appropriate property and many other forms of violations. The common characteristic of violations is that they often use international domain names registered abroad, concealing the subject's information.

In 2021-2022, the Vietnam Internet Center (Ministry of Information and Communications) coordinated to provide information of more than 1,810 domain names (92.5% of which, equivalent to 1,683 international domain names registered abroad, using the service of hiding subject information) to competent authorities on handling violations; received, handled the temporary suspension of operations, and revoked nearly 500 domain names related to violations of impersonating press agencies, general electronic information sites, online gambling, bank and financial fraud, illegal trading of medical products and functional foods, etc.
