Will artificial intelligence replace humans?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been playing a powerful supporting role in work and study. But is AI just a support, or can this technology replace humans?

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is developing every day, and can effectively support humans in many specific tasks. In the photo: Freelance programmer Hoang Dinh Kiem (Hai Duong City) uses AI in application programming.

Fast, convenient, beneficial

“Hai Duong people enjoy experiencing ChatGPT” is the title of an article we wrote more than 2 years ago. At that time, ChatGPT emerged as the world’s leading AI technology platform, “making waves” across technology forums, even becoming a global phenomenon.

After 2 years, besides ChatGPT, there are many other AI platforms. These platforms are improved every day, from the quality of data analysis to versatility in use.

Knowing about AI thanks to ChatGPT and also from this tool, Ms. Duong Thi Tho, an English teacher at Hong Quang Secondary School (Thanh Mien) learned about Google Gemini. These are the platforms that have accompanied Ms. Tho in teaching for over a year.

“The more I use it, the more I enjoy it. These AI platforms bring a modern feel to the interaction. In English, many of my colleagues and I often use AI as a reference suggestion for certain tests. In particular, AI is very good at implementing English essays on topics, along with multiple choice questions and true-false questions. The grammar is standard, the content is clearly expressed. This is also a way to help us enrich our foreign language lessons,” Ms. Tho shared.

However, the limitation of AI in supporting English lesson preparation is that it cannot classify students' levels. After each time asking AI to write a topic, Ms. Tho has to check and review it to adjust the level of difficulty - ease, ensuring it is suitable for the students' learning ability.

As a freelance programmer of websites and applications running on the website, Mr. Hoang Dinh Kiem in Thach Khoi ward (Hai Duong city) has approached AI for more than 2 years. According to Mr. Kiem, most people know ChatGPT because of the popularity that this platform is promoted. However, each industry and field still has other AI tools. For example, in the field of software programming, there are a series of famous tools in other circles such as Github Copilot, Bolt, Cursor, v0.dev...

The common point of these AI tools is that they are becoming more and more modern. After each upgrade, the next version seems to have been "transformed", much improved compared to the previous version. "Previous AI basically only effectively supported simple commands, and even to use commands composed by AI, you had to manually copy and paste. After more than 2 years, current AI tools can support many complex commands in application programming. Using AI is also more convenient because it can be directly integrated into programming languages", Mr. Kiem shared.

AI is just AI

In his field, Mr. Kiem believes that AI can replace inexperienced personnel, but cannot replace expert programmers. AI can assist in some basic tasks. AI can replace humans if the human level is only at the level of performing basic tasks. “However, with expert personnel, specifically in the software field, in addition to programming knowledge, it is also a synthesis of a series of other skills and knowledge such as system development, handling partner requests... AI is just like a puzzle piece and a tool for experts to use,” Mr. Kiem added.

With many limitations that cannot be overcome, especially accuracy and data security, AI cannot replace humans.

Many students have also applied AI in their studies. Vu Thi Anh Duong, a student in grade 11A at Thanh Mien II High School, has been using ChatGPT since the tool was launched in late 2022. This tool has helped her improve her skills in creating visual presentations in Power Point format and come up with more ideas for each essay. However, the accuracy of this tool is still an inherent disadvantage," Duong said.

For example, Duong asked ChatGPT to analyze the poem “Here Comes Autumn” by Xuan Dieu, and the AI tool responded with an analysis of “The Boat Far Away,” a short story by Nguyen Minh Chau. The limitations of the accuracy of this famous AI tool are also reflected in many other subjects such as mathematics, physics, etc.

“AI is just a reference tool, a tool to stimulate ideas, it cannot replace humans, at least at present,” shared architect Vu Khiem, Director of I.Day Construction Investment and Consulting Joint Stock Company (iDay design) in Hai Duong City.

According to Mr. Khiem, in the field of construction design, many AI tools can make suggestions with sketch images, based on the data warehouse that the tool synthesizes. AI cannot replace all stages, but it can replace many simple, specific tasks such as answering the phone, giving advice, etc. "However, AI is just AI, essentially algorithms, it cannot replace in-depth face-to-face consultation. In particular, humans have emotions, something that AI will probably never have, especially in areas related to aesthetics such as construction design, emotions - something that a consultant can grasp to serve customers better", Mr. Khiem shared.

Recently, DeepSeek is a name that has made a big splash in AI development, but with that comes the issue of data security.

Lack of accuracy, lack of selectivity in each answer, especially for specific industries and fields, especially emotionless, “inanimate”... are limitations that AI cannot overcome. Not to mention, developing cheap AI tools is gradually becoming a trend, with DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence development company, being an example. However, this “technology fever” has become the focus of criticism regarding data security.

AI is developing very fast, even at lightning speed. That is the truth. The prospect of AI replacing humans and humans obeying AI is currently only in movies. If we do not have enough knowledge to use and control it, it is very possible that in the future, AI will replace humans, at least in some aspects.
